AN Rules and Regulations:
Rules are inherently different between IC and OOC actions. While this whole rules list will be OOC, the rules will be separated into two distinct categories. Punishments for violating rules will differ by OOC and IC violations. The Commanders understand that character are different than muns, and as such we will do our best not to punish you for playing a character. However, certain actions characters take regardless of alignment will be punished accordingly.
OOC Rules:
Punishments: The punishment for OOC rules violation will be quite harsh. While characters can get some leeway because they are…well…characters, we will not tolerate violating rules between players. There is no excuse for players to be cruel to each other. We are all here to have fun. We understand that players will not always get along, and they might bicker. We expect if they can’t manage to resolve their issues they will do the polite thing and just avoid each other. We don’t appreciate rumor mongering, backstabbing or bashing to other muns.
First Violation of OOC Rules will lead to a letter of warning from the Commanders. This will contain a reminder of the rules that are stated here, and the agreement that was signed on the application form. We will store this, as well as the logs submitted that led to the warning. We believe in transparency, so logs sent will be given to all involved parties so that they can be contested.
Second Violation of OOC rules with result in the same as the first. In addition this will lead to a probation period. During probation period, which will last two weeks. During probation you may still participate in events on your character, but you will not be awarded AP for participating. This applies to quests, missions, spars, etc. If by the end of the probation you have not created another incidence you will be removed from probation and allowed to participate as normal.
Third Violation of OOC rules will lead to removal from the guild, with a standing blacklist. If we find you attempt to enter the guild with another character, that character will also be removed. We don’t like to do this, we are a fairly laid back group, but as was stated above, we do not tolerate actions OOC that reduce the enjoyment of other’s play.
Rules:
Bolting: We all know what bolts do in the chat rooms. They eject people who are annoying from the chat. We aren’t going to be silly and say you can never bolt someone from a room. If you think you are going to have to bolt someone, then send a log if you are running one of the behavior, or just hit notify AOL and copy the chat blurb if you aren’t. We would appreciate it if you don’t eject members of the guild unless they are harassing the other members or generally disrupting the chat. Yet again, please make sure you have proof of their action. One wrongful ejection is not considered an offense, but if we have reports of someone doing it repeatedly they will be counted as a first offense.
Behavior in guild rooms: All right, so we know people are going to act like they want in the rooms in regards to most things. If your character wants to drink, swear, have punching match, that’s fine. But keep the sex out of the chats. You wanna do the naughty behind the bar, do it in IM’s so no one else has to see it. Just try not to scare people off in recruiting rooms, all right? Sex in chats is an instant warning if it is inside a guild tagged chat. Period.
Mun Bashing: Don’t do it. Instant warning. We do not want to hear our members disparaging against other members. If your character’s fight, that’s fine. Keep it IC. Don’t spread nasty rumors, don’t insult each other, do not harass each other. Basically, treat each other as human beings. If you wouldn’t act that way with your co-workers, don’t act that way with your guild mates.
IC Rules:
In character rules violations will be dealt with on an individual offense basis. Minor infractions lead to minor punishments. Major infractions cause summarily major punishments. While we do not condone killing characters as punishment, exile can happen if a character violates a major rule. Most in character offenses can not get you blacklisted. So if your character does something bad and is removed, you can always bring in another!
Murder: If a character murders another character who is a Guildmate, they will be banished. There is no other punishment. Even if this is a storyline murder that the muns agree on, the laws of the lands allow no exception. Think long and hard about following through on this kind of action.
Rape: Castration, then banishment for males. Banishment for females. Until we think up something equally as fitting as castration for them.
Physical Violence: Fist fights are fine. Randomly stabbing someone is not. If you stab someone and they report you to the Commanders you will be punished. For a minor injury you will pay a fine of no less than 100 gold to the person wronged. A moderate injury is 500 gold and a week in prison. Life threatening injuries are no less than 2,000 gold, and no less than 1 month in prison and being put on probation from the guild.
Harrassment, Mental Violence: If reported, the first time the character will be warned by the Commanders and ordered to stay away from the member being harassed. If it continues jail time and fines will be levied based on the severity of the harassment. If it continues beyond that the member will be expelled from the guild.
Theft: Theft is punishable through fines. If the character is caught stealing, they must return the item and pay a 100gp fine. For each additional time they are caught stealing they will pay a fine double the prior amount. If they are unable to pay the fine, they spend a number of days in jail equal to the number of offenses committed.
