The young lady had dressed herself carefully as she made her way down through the local streets. The dark hair was pinned up into the knot at the nap of her neck, the soft curls seeking their own way down teasing the soft skin of her neck. For once it wasn't a path toward the apothicary, nor was it a list of spell components that drove her to the crowded market streets.
She had to take a trip home, and she certainly couldn't arrive empty handed. The dark eyes flickered over her shoulder to the porter she had hired for the afternoon. The man wasn't overly excited to have to follow the girl around, but it wasn't unloading ships , so he believed he got the better end of the deal. um.. So far that is. She gave a small smile and nod before pausing at the edge of the main fare.. the kalidescope of colors and textures used to tease her when she was small.
The markets were her favorite place then, not for the silly trinkets that her parents purchased but because it was the mingling of cultures and flavors of people. The sounds of their different dialects and scents always amazed her. The young lady stood a moment longer admiring as she heard the sigh from behind her. The small smile touched her lip as she gave a nod. There were gifts to purchase.
The light steps manuvered through the crowds as she paused at a stand where the unexcitable man stood with the assortment of ribbons and hair baubles. She smiled at him and looked around through the collection. Her eyes flickered here and there as the rainbow of colors and ribbons of satin and silk danced in the light breeze. Her selection was simple, as she gave a little nod to the vender once they were paid for. " would you happen to know of a toymaker? "She inquired as the vender pointed the gaunt hand down the street. She nodded and soon she and her porter were off again.

The porter seemed less then thrilled as he continued to follow after the little mage. The small purchases were made here and there while she sought out just the right items for her siblings, spouses and children. It was to her delight when she arrived at the toy maker as she purchased several dolls and horses. The young lady spent nearly an hour watching the man carve a wagon before purchasing a couple of those as well. Needless to say that the brood of children would find themselves gifted with brightly painted toys from a gifted craftsman. With a wave and promise to return soon, Agnes lead the way out. Now that left three sister in laws, and two sisters.. not to mention her own mother. The small purse of her lips came as she walked slowly along. Trinkets and baubbles picked up here and there for the sisters and a delightful bolt of silk for Agnes herself.. what? She couldn't go back looking pauper! She spied the shop for the silversmith. The hand lifted for the porter to follow as she cut a path toward the small shop. As the silvered bell above the door rang, it drew the attention of not only the shopkeep but a pair of men standing nearby. The porter waited out doors as Agnes slipped in to seek out that one gift for her mother. After all, it was she that Agnes wanted to make sure was the most pleased with whatever trinket she returned home with. While she and the shopkeep spoke and bartered back and forth the porter found himself soon standing between to unlikely fellows.
" So.. what says you that , you have someplace more important to be? " One man spoke up as the porter found his ribs taking the point of a dagger. The porter glanced to either and gave a small nod. He wasn't being paid for this.. just to carry boxes. The larger of the two , took over the task of carrying the boxes as his companion slipped back around the corner of the building. As Agnes finally settled upon a price she returned outside. The dark eyes flickered up at the man..
" Where is Aaron? "She asked as the man grunted. " He gots called away..they sent me ta take up the rest of the job, me lady. "He stated shifting packages around. Agnes lifted a brow and sighed. "Oh.. well come along I need to go to the leather shop.. and that should just about do it for the afternoon. "She chimed up brightly. Well she had no reason to believe the man was being false. As she started off the man right behind her. " Pardon me own self Miss.. but its quicker to be goin right.. saves the bumpin about by folk. " he stated as agnes looked back over her shoulder to the emptier streets and gave a nod. " Why thank you.. Aaron was so quiet about such things.. "She smiled up at the man and redirected her steps.

The street was indeed far quieter then the last , though Agnes was becoming slightly confused. The shops were few and far between as she paused and turned to look at this new porter. The man stood with a half sneer on his face. " I believe sir that we have taken a wrong turn. No matter we'll just go back. "She stated as she started to walk forward, to move passed the man.
A thick hand reached out and caught ahold of her arm. " Now Misses.. where someone like yerself goin? " The voice behind her sounded urban enough as Agnes stopped. The dark eyes widened just a little as she peered over her shoulder. " I am going to return to my shopping , and you are going to release my arm before something quite terrible happens and you regret your actions. "She stated softly. The other man laughed as the parcels were shoved off into a street urchin's hands. The muddy little boy gave a small nod to her. "Where are you going with those. Stop! Stop this instant! "She stated with a small stomp of her foot.
"Aww.. naw don'tcha worries none little miss.. " The larger man stepped between her and the safe passage back toward the market. The gnarled hand reached out and touched her chin to tip her head up to look at him. It was at that moment Agnes become aware of how close the man behind her had become. She pulled her chin away from his touch, in doing so her head brushed against the man's chest behind her. " We's gonna take right fine care o' yerself. "
" I am giving you both a final warning. " She stated quietly, as the dark brown eyes held the defiance that obviously amused them both to no end. She shifted her stance once again though found her arm held tightly.
"Ya hear her.. she's givin us a warnin... " the man behind her spoke up. " I be thinkin I'm right scared.. mayhaps be pissin in me boots!"
" Oh aye.. spirit in this en.. " The man smirked looking at her while his hand moved to rest on her hip. " Naw don't be scared.. jus gives us a littlin kiss.."
Agnes could smell the rank breath in her face as she lifted a hand to rest against the chest of the man before her. The draw of the energy came from that internal core of hers as she could feel his breath against her skin just as the release of the electrical jolt flashed from her hand resting against his chest. The scent of burnt fabric and filth rose as the man found himself cast back into the cobblestone. The sickening crack of his head bounced from the stone, bringing the larger of the two to silence.
The one behind her was startled enough as she turned to face him.. his hand still held onto that opposite arm of hers. Though as she did so , she found herself face to face with a rather ugly man. And a dagger pressed just beneath her sterum. "Ya don't get gitin no ideas .. "he stated as she glanced down at it then back up to him. " I believe the moment in which your poor judgement has already achieved that status of..bad ideas. "She spoke softly. " If you wish not to end up like your companion.. let go of my arm. " She stated firmly as she lifted her chin. She had faced monsters and undead.. creatures from planes far more frightening currently then the man holding the dagger.
She had not completely counted on was the man seeing this as a no win situation as he chuckled and jerked his arm forward. The bite of the dagger slipped between the folds of the soft cloth of her dress and layers beneath. The pain igniting immediately at her side as she blinked and glanced down. The crimson began to spread quickly as she lifted her hand up to smack the man. However the indignant anger at the fact the man had stabbed her ignited another spell around the soft finger tips. The man screamed out as the flaming palm struck against his face. He did in fact release her with a shove backward while he stumbled back himself.
The cry left her lips as the sudden jarring of the cobblestone beneath her irrated the wound. She paid no more attention to the man nor his own screams of pain. The small lady carefully rose up and the kerchief pulled from her sleeve was pressed against the wound. She managed perhaps nearly half the block before the stumble caught up to her, and down the poor lass went unconscious.

Damien had one of the city watch bring his horse. He had just finished his fight at the arena and would need the horse to carry his battered body. He also had plenty of trophies to bring back to Castle Trak'an. Mounting the large friesan he took the reigns in one hand and began his ride. If he so happened to see the noble who caused todays adventures he would surely get the backside of Damien's gauntlet. Damien always got a foul feeling deep inside himself when he spoke to nobles. They were always so arrogant, foolish, and self-centered. Thanks to his armor and shield he was not as injured as he thought he would be when he saw the massive minotaurs. His armor needed a major cleaning. A mixture of bloods had covered him from head to toe. He no longer had business in the city and it was time to head home. He road back through the markets heading for the city gates.
Most of the occupants of the streets just stared as Damien road through. Many had seen the fight and the rest were curious as to who this foul looking man was. Whispers filled the air causing him to turn his helm and look around at all those shoppers. He could not wait to get home. This was no place for him especially at this time. Damien turned his head once more as he heard some whispers and something down the alley caught his eye. He dismounted Hrimfaxi and walked to a post to tie the warhorse up. Spurs chimed on the stone path as he went to investigate the shadows that laid infront of him.
"Agnes!!!" Damien could spot that girl anywhere. He rushed over and brought the seemingly lifeless girl into his arms as he fell to his knees. Thankfully it seemed his friend was still alive just knocked out. He noticed the stain of blood on her dress from the dagger wound. "Oh no Agnes hold on" Damien would reach back and remove his breastplate. Letting the heavy armor fall behind him he quickly removed a sleeve from his tunic. He tore the fabric into strips and wrapped them around Agnes to try and control the bleeding. He snatched up the armor and laid the woman in his arms as he walked back to his horse. He set her unconscious body in the sadle and tried to bring the beast closer to untie it. He put his armor back on and quickly mounted. Time was of the essence.
The knight held on tight to his friend as he raced off through the city streets. It was now more important than ever he reach the castle. The knights manor was rightfully placed between the two major cities of Carmathyn. The ride did not take long as the castle gates came into view. Damien almost jumped off running as he held Agnes tightly into his arms. "I have a feeling I am going to owe her a new dress" He smiled a bit knowing between her own blood and that he just added that piece of fabric would be ruined. He rushed inside and found the closest bedchamber. He laid Agnes down into the bed and quickly called for some of the ladies who worked at the castle to help. No way was he going to undress Agnes and regain the title of rake. All Damien could do was sit quietly by the hearth and wait. He would not leave his friends side as long as she was in that bed.

Thankfully the wound hadn't been too bad, and one of the maids and run off to fetch a healer to deal with the puncture within the girl's side. It had taken little more then a few stitches once determining it hadn't hit anything vital. Of course during that Damien would have likely be shooed out and allowed back in once the girl was resting again. The panic of it and the bleeding had slowed her down, but it was really Agnes's own phobias of blood.. well .. her blood that had caused the girl to pass out to begin with. She was resting in the bed as she grunted softly as she attempted to move and sighed quietly as she looked around a bit unfamiliar with the room and location as she started to run through it all again in her head. Though it didn't match up .. and panic again was beginning to sit in as she pushed herself up with a gasp and a hand to her side. With her being unconscious no one had attempted magical healing without knowing her tolerance for the ability. The dark eyes spied Damien sitting not far off as she frowned.
" What are you doing here? "She asked quietly as she pulled the blankets a bit closer to herself. The small frown touching her face while she kept trying to piece things together.

Damien had to leave and return every so often to allow Agnes her privacy when her wounds were being dressed or clothes changed. Despite knowing each other for some time Damien was unsure if she could take a magical healing. When he left the room he took the time to wash up and change into his regular tunic and pants. When she awoke Damien was still by the hearth. Breastplate in hand he was cleaning and shining up the armor.
Hearing the familiar voice brought a faint smile to his face. "This is my home...I figured I was aloud to be here" He set down the breastplate and made his way to the bed. He took a seat at the foot and looked over to her. "How are you feeling Agnes. Looks like you got into some trouble while in the city" Despite his eyes seeming a cold white the concern was there. He gave her legs a little pat trying to convice she was okay. Convice her or himself was the question.

She shifted a little and frowned a moment trying to place everything that happened as she gave a small nod. " I had a porter.. I hired him.. when I came out of the silversmiths.. there was another man there.. "She spoke quietly and shifted a bit again. The pat to her leg allowed a faint smile. " I'm alright.. I'm afraid that my nerves must have gotten the better of me. " She explained softly. " Thank you for looking out for me.. I don't want to cause any trouble.. "She spoke up. Of course all the items she had purchased were long gone by now. The small hand rubbed her face as she sighed.
She let her hand drop back down to her lap as she watched him a moment. " if you have them bring me my things.. I'll get out of your hair Damien. "She spoke softly. Well the man didn't need her laying about his house. Not to mention she had to figure out what she was going to do to replace the few items she had purchased.

He snickered a bit as he she spoke about leaving already. "You are not going anywhere Agnes. Not till I am sure you are okay. You are no bother Agnes you are a friend and welcome in this manor at any time." As for the gifts she would be surprised. Damien had sent out some personal guards along with Lise. His dragon may be young but was a great asset when it came to fighting evil. Her gifts were all downstairs waiting.
"Are you hungry or wish to wash? Whatever you need I and my house is at your service Agnes." For being a knight he really had nothing better to do. And to this knight his friends were his family. They came before all others. He leaned over and gave her a half assed hug since she was wrapped up in the blankets." I shall give you some privacy though hun. I am sure you wish to get properly dressed. My maids have set out a few dresses for you. I kind of ruined the one you wore so I owe you that at least"

She started to say something though fell silent as she gave a small nod. " Thank you Damien.. "She was actually a bit thankful not not be rushing off to deal with it all. The small cant of her head was given as she gave a small nod. "Both actually.. "She admitted as she lifted a brow. The last time someone picked out a dress for her .. it was Agrylax.. and while it was tasteful, still the cut was a little.. ah.. bold. for her tastes. " I appreciate it. " The offer to give her a bit of privacy to get cleaned up and such. The brows lifted as she chuckled softly. " Somehow I doubt seriously if you ruined my dress.. that rather nasty fellow with a dagger did that. "

Damien barely trusted himseld picking out clothes. There was no way he would allow himself to try and pick something out for Agnes. "Oh I wound say it was 50/50 him and myself. If you don't like anything that has been put out you can always drag me to the markets so I can buy something for you" He gave the woman another hug completely relieved she was okay. He stood from the bed and grabbed his armor before making his exit. He decided to head to the stables and spend some time with the horses while his good friend took care of herself.

The small duck of her head was given and the shake of her head. " I am sure the dress will be suitable , there will be no need for you to purchase anything for me. "She stated quietly as she returned the light hug before he rose and left her with the opportunity to get dressed. While it was slow going she carefully dressed herself.
Her movements were slow while the fingers carefully ensured that the dress was fastened as it should be. The quiet steps was still as slow as she inquired from one of the maids where it was that the man had gone. The dark hair was once more pinned up as it should be, the dress itself however was a simple blue. Nothing that was overflamboyant which she was extremely thankful for.. the calmness of colors. She wouldn't go to the stables , being frightened of horses she however did step out into the warm summer sunshine to seat herself again on one of the variou benches to look around.

While Damien was at the stables he did his normal routine with his horse. He grabbed some oats and fed the horse along with brushing and other daily care. Once the horse was well fed and all clean it was time to go check up on Agnes again. He plucked a lily from the garden as he made his way through the courtyard. Soon he caught a glimpse of Agnes sitting on the bench. "What are you doing out here missy. Should you not be resting?" He walked over with a raised brow and took a seat on the bench. Handing over the lily he smiled "So what do you think of my home sweet home?"

She was simply staring off, the small hands folded in her lap. The approach of Damien brought her eyes upward and the small smile touched her lips. " Yes well your maid isn't very happy with me either. "She admitted quietly as she looked back over the yard. " Its lovely here.. "She admitted softly. " I didn't want to just lay about. "She shook her head. Though one thing was absolutely certain, Agnes had no wish to go anywhere near the sounds of horses.
What? They were absolutely evil.. flat teeth and huge feet! But she was comfortable enough where she sat for now as she smiled and took the lilly as he offered it. " Thank you Damien. " She spoke softly. " It does somehow make that tent you were living in seem.. a bit.. small.. and ackward. "She looked around then glanced back before laughing quietly.

"You are a stubborn one Agnes." Damien had no fear of horses. He had been riding almost all of his life. It was to the point he felt right at home in the saddle. He laughed a bit when she spoke of the small tent he had taken up residence in when he first came to the realm. "Yes it is a big change from the tent. A knight needs his manor though. A place for his horses and to trian" That was his reasoning for the castle. He would never use the structure to bend the knee of the people in the area.
"You are very welcome Agnes. You are welcome here at any time. My gates are usualy open. If not the guards will have your name and open them." Not the most defensive strategy but he had no reason to worry. There was no war going on. Damien was always a socialite and would happily welcome all who entered. "Do I need to notify anyone at the keep of your stay here? Do not want to get the wholy city watch out looking for you since you are not at your room."

"Determined.. stubborn sounds as if it were an affliction. "she stated quietly then grinned a little. she looked over the yard again and gave a small nod. No, Damien never did seem the sort to polish the title and use it as most would. She chuckled softly. " I appreciate it , however I would not wish to wear out my welcome in such a way. "she admitted quietly.
" No.. itis just myself, there isn't anyone to worry , I doubt honestly that most would notice my disappearance entirely but perhaps one or two. "She wasn't forlorn or worrysome about it. It was simply the truth. Another face among many, which was suitable enough.
