POISON MAKING
If you have the skill Alchemy and Poisonmaking and Use, you are allowed to create poisons and poison antidotes for use and for sale to your fellow PC's and the Emporium.
There is a list of approved poisons you are allowed to create for one of your poison making attempts. You may also create an antidote for any poison listed. For antidotes for poisons not listed, you must have a sample of the poison to create an antidote.
Follow the same rules for Potion Making, but you will be creating a poison.
Tips on posting: Since we know it can sometimes be hard to find your inspiration on making a potion, we're including a list of things to help your posting.
1) Locate the potion recipe, and go over Ingredients.
2) Get the ingredients. Go find them in the store, around the lab, or wild chase them in the woods.
3) Double check your equipment. Before starting turn on the burners, get some safety gear on, things like that!
4) Measure out the ingredients and set to work mixing them.
How do I create a potion?
1) You will need to OOC state the following: "RaS Poison/Antidote Creation", the date, the time, what type of poison you are making.
2) Post the role play of creating the poison or antidote. Five posts are needed for any poison.
3) End log, and send in to Halo of Noire with the following header:
Name:
Screen Name:
Poison Name:
Cost:
Will you be using this for yourself? (costs 75% of total price)
Will you be selling this to the Emporium? (profit of 25% of total price)
Log of Creation:
5) If you sell this potion to another PC you must send the receipt to that PC as well as Halo of Noire, so that the gold can be removed from purchaser, and profit added to seller.
The 75% and the 25% are the same as if you were making weapons, items, etc. If you wish to keep an item you made, or give it to a friend, you must pay 75% of the total goods cost (this signifies tax, raw materials, time and labor, etc).
If you wish to sell it to either The Emporium or to another player then you keep/get back 25% of the total good's cost.
Example: You have a potion that's price is 100 gp.
- You sell it to another player, who buys it for 100 gp = you keep 25 gp, the rest went into cost of production and upkeep.
- You sell it to emporium after you make it = you get 25 gp
- You keep it for yourself = you pay 75 gp
- You gift it to somebody = you pay 75 gp
Forms of Poisons[/u]
Ingestive: This form of poison is the most common. To effect a creature, it must first ingest the poison. This means that the creature must eat or drink the poison one way or another.
Insinuative: This form of poison will effect a creature just by getting it into it's blood stream. This is the form of poison that is used on weapons.
Contact: This form of poison will effect a creature just by coming in contact with the poison. This is one of the most expensive and most dangerous forms. Many a user has slain themselves through carelessness. This form of poison is easily bypassed by thick gloves.
Gas: This form of poison is very dangerous. It will effect EVERYTHING within range. You will have to pay a pretty gold piece for any alchemist to add an oxidising agent to a poison and it's EXPENSIVE to ask someone to risk their life for that.
The cloud size for a gaseous poison is equal to your gemstone ranking. The more experienced you become the more skilled your craft.
Rosha & Abet'zi: 1 Person/Animal
Mel'yn: 2 People/Animals
Grinja: 3 People/Animals
Gles'ni: 4 People/Animals
Rohel: 5 People/Animals
Sanguter: 6 People/Animals
**NOTE: That you only select where the gas will originate (by throwing the vial or container at one target) the target is ALWAYS the first target. The ring of gas spreads outwards effecting those closest to the target in order. So if you throw this type of poison into a group of bad guys, where one of your friends is located, you may run the risk of poisoning them. You MAY choose to have the gas poison be smaller than allowed by gemstone, as in a Gles'ni may make a gas poison that only targets 1, but a Rosha may not make a gas that targets 3.
Antidotes: Antidotes are available if a sample of the poison is made available. If no sample of the toxin is available, one can be distilled from a blood sample, but that will take a variable amount of time, depending upon the poison, of steady work to accomplish and generally those poisoned do not have the time to spare.
How many poison potions can I make?
You may make as many potions as you wish!
How much can I sell potions to the Emporium for?
We will buy potions at 25% of the full cost. So if a potion sells for 1000gp, the Emporium will buy your potion for 250gp.
Can I sell potions to PC's?
Yes, you can sell them directly, or you can purchase a shop and get those benefits, so please see those rules to purchase an apothecary or whatever kind of shop you wish. You would sell the potion for the Emporium cost, and 25% would go to your own pockets. So, a potion worth 1000gp would be sold as such, and 250gp would be profit for you.
Can I use potions for myself in adventures, missions and storylines?
Yes, but you must pay a cost for ingredients. You may use the potions you make for yourself by paying 75% of the cost of the potion. So a 1000gp potion, you'd pay 750gp to use for your own self.
How do I use a poison in combat?
If you have not roleplayed out the placing of the poison upon your weapon before combat, you must use a turn to roleplay out the preparation of the poison, whether that is loading a hypo-pistol, spreading the poison on a blade, or dipping an arrow into the poison.
During your next turn you may use the poison on your opponent!
