Sitting snugly on the porch swing of the LatF Manor, Coran swayed back and forth in the lovely summer heat, sipping from a glass of sweet tea. She was still in her night-time clothes, but she didn't care. Who was honestly going to stop by this early? She yawned, covering her mouth with her hand as she did so.
Letting her hand fall, she moved out of the ball she was formed into and stretched. "No day like your birthday..." She whispered to herself with a smile as she waited to hear the twins wake. John had headed out already, and now her mind wandered to what her little Asian man could be up to.
She whistled and her big puppy came running. She wouldn't be anywhere without her little Lilly pad [Lilly was her name, pad was added as a nickname.] She scratched the dog behind her ears as she waited. It was never fun to wait alone, so she wouldn't. "That's my good Lilly pad." She smiled down to her.

Where exactly did John run off to bright and early on this day? It was anyone's guess. When he returned he was balancing two brown paper bags. Lilly caught scent of him and barked, though he was pretty sure Coran was aware of his approach by now. He couldn't sneak anything past her, it seems! Seeing her alone on the porch tipped him off that the kids were still sleeping so he didn't make a big ruckus as he reached the manor. John greeted Coran with a kiss before settling down next to her on the porch swing.
"Happy Birthday! I have a treat for you. I'm cooking today." He smiled after setting the bags down. A hand dropped on top of Lilly's head so that he could pet the dog. "I figure when the kids wake up we can head over to the market together. They have a couple of new vendors and you might see something you like."

She smiled softly as she watched him approach and leaned in against him. "Cooking? For me? You know I'll end up trying to help anyway." She chuckled and rested against him. "New vendors you say? That would be fun! Shopping, I wonder what kind of clothes I could find. Maybe a nice little hat." She chuckled again. "I'm glad you're home."
