March 14 2011 ((Shatter )) The young woman left the Outpost , the image of Lucy's mouth of Cheesecake still haunted her a bit. The steps were slow and meandering first attempted to find her way back to the Citadel proper was interesting enough. Often she found the Outpost by accident. An outside energy source is what Master Yuriko had advised, and while she had found books upon the procedure, it was far harder then the book entailed. She stopped in the midst of the field, the old grasses laid flat from the heavy snows and the cold. This was likely to be one of the more difficult tasks, even harder then attempted to ride a horse. Which the mere thought made her absently rub her backside. Not a fun trial at all, why in the name of the Little Gods someone would do so willingly still baffled her. A nice comfortable carriage was far more her preference.
Well there was no one currently about, there fore this would be the ideal spot to investigate the information within the book. The small smile was given and first and foremost she needed blot. Perhaps not needed Blot but she appreciated the presence of the strange orb of light. The young woman let her eyes unfocus on the world about her as she delved into the internal core. The threads drawn slowly before the manifestation of the wobbly spot of light. It was unevenly shaped and seemed to shift before slowly smoothing out to the correct spherical shape.
She blinked a number of times before smiling at the orb. " Hello Blot. " The soft voice welcomed her little glowing friend. The light spun about before quickly nuzzling her cheek. " We have work to do. "She spoke softly to the light. The small nod was given while she opened the book. "Now according to the book, written by some arch mage in the wild lands of the Plegars. " She canted her head a moment. " I wonder where that is? Oh we will have to look into maps when we get back. " she forced her mind back to the current question before trailing off on another.
The purse of her lips was given, so she would not forget the question however she dug the stylus from a pocket and circled the word and wrote to the side. Where? Ok now with that bit of work completed. " There are lines that run through the earth, these lines are called Leylines. They harbor energy like an unseen river or stream. It is very difficult to tap into the stream and one must take precautions to ensure the mind is not lost. " She read aloud then looked up to the orb. The light faded a bit then brightened, Agnes always took that as a shrug. " I'm sure it can't possibly be so hard as all that. "She wrinkled her nose a bit.
" To tap into the leylines one must be centered. " She frowned a little then looked around the open field. Hm. A few dozen steps to the left. Three forward.. that looked to be centered, didn't it? Excellent! "There we are. Centered. " She gave a nod. " Once this is achieved, the process begins with the inward draw of the mind toward the core. When ready the outward push of sight will aid in the locating of the leylines. " She read once again and shrugged. " Alright, lets give it a go. " She decided as she closed the book and set it down.
The deep breath was drawn in while she tugged her conscious with her. There were very few times she had directed herself entirely within the molten core. She slowly watched while the energy twisted and churned before she withdrew to look outward as the book had instructed. The world around her seemed unusually vivid in its colors. The brows and faded tans all seemed extraordinarily bright. The blue sky was almost harsh to look upon. The trees themselves at the edges of the field seemed to glow with some energy she had never seen before. How exciting!
While her eyes continued to search for this particular leyline business, the orb passed before her. The yellow was vibrant and caused her to wince somewhat. " Blot to the side.. that hurts. " The hand waved at the light away for a moment. The movement however had directed her attention to a crisp white line ,it seemed buried beneath the soil and grass. She didn't physically move yet her mind inched slowly closer. It was the most beautiful thing she had ever witnessed.
The iridescent shades sparkled, she felt herself drawn closer still. The small mental hand could not bare the thought of something so perfect passing without a touch. The fingers barely grazed the edges as she felt a small inwardly tug. However she held firm. The wild smile of excitement seemed to draw the courage, or stupidity, however one wishes to look at it, of the girl. The hand extended yet again to touch the smoothly running stream , the touch leaving rainbow ripples along its surface. How extraordinary!
The energy passed over those fingers for only a moment before the sharp tug was felt. The excited smile began to fade while feeling herself become tugged harder and deeper into the stream of energy. Her eyes stared off in the direction , and her body took one jerky step forward before landing roughly to her knees. Her mind however found itself tumbling and twisting in with the energy, drowning as if in a fast moving river , attempting and clawing her way to the surface.
Dear Little Gods ... the physical body gasped and coughed while the light fluttered and spun about quickly. She felt herself lost in that turmoil of color and power though it wasn't until a brilliant flash of light brought her crashing back, the sensation felt so violently that her physical body dropped backwards into the damp grasses and dirt. She blinked several times and gasped , gulping down air quickly as if new to the sensation once more of breathing.
The orb of light flashed angrily in her face before swirling upward. She shook her head slowly " I know.. " She gasped out but then suddenly the ringing gurgle of laughter came from her. She hadn't the energy to truly move, but her feet slid out from underneath her, since it was a truly awkward way to fall. She slowed her breathing and stared up at the simple blue colored sky. " I did it.. I DID IT!!! " She yelled up at the clouds.
" I touched it.. did you see it Blot.. I touched the leyline. "She looked to the orb that seemed a defeated dull yellow now. " Oh come on. yes if it weren't for you I would have died.. I know... but.. I did it. Its only a matter of preparation and control, not to mention strength and tenacity of the lines themselves. " She blurted out and grinned. " but I did it! "
She laid there for several more minutes before her head seemed to explode from the inside. She curled up onto her side and attempted to bury her face into her arms. "Oh gods..." She whispered , already tasting the blood that had come from her nose.. best not to think about that. The orb flickered about lost before slowly gliding down and rested in the grass beside the girl.
It was a blessing when the darkness folded around her, it was an escape from the pain that thundered in her head. However left poor Blot to watch over the impetuous youth. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ March 19 2011 It had been several days since the attempt of touching the leyline that she had ventured back into the library. The young lady with the blank covered journal looked at the large doors before the deep breath and she passed beyond them. Her approach was somewhat different then before.
It wasn't as if the books themselves had lost their sacredness, how now they were usable tools. The hushed whisper of her skirts circled around her ankles while her attention was diverted in a single direction. Tonight was going to be a very long evening. The unconscious thought ran within her mind as the instant creation of Blot appeared above her shoulder.
The eyes slid over the shelves as she read over the titles. Those of interest were drawn from the shelf and into her arms. By time she had finished she carried the six books to a table. The Plegars.. they were lands just beyond Rhydin. There were mages there that were capable of doing wondrous things for the lands they lived within. The Wild Lands.. Agnes was curious now as to how they did it.
The Leylines she had read about existed, that she found out the hard way by attempting to touch one, that was her first mistake. Her touch had been too timid, the second and third she had managed while on small walks. Of course she chose far smaller lines to attempt to use.
However now she looked up the mages that lived there along with their abilities , if written down. As she sat down with the stack of books, blot taking its usual place at her shoulder she began to set them out accordingly. She had a system when it came to studying. The first thing now was understanding what exactly she was capable of doing. How it worked was more important.
She glanced over at the book at her side. The blank covered book was given a small grin. She also tugged the pen that she had been given from her pocket. Upon the page she had written her name, beneath it she wrote out a bit more. Rule Number One. : Focus. The less focus the greater the lashback headaches. Rule Number Two. : Keep in mind exactly what you will done. Only then call upon the core. Rule Number Three. Be prepared. Always expect the spell to fail , in doing so always have a back up spell waiting. Rule Number Four. Don't die.
She grinned and set that off to the side before she tugged the first history book toward herself. The dark brown eyes read the first few lines before the landscape of words had devoured her attention completely. With the better understanding of how the magic and the mage's operated it did make a good deal of sense. The drawing of the energy from the leylines was difficult because it then had to be 'claimed' by the user. One couldn't simply just use the magic, there had to be subtle changes. Making it one's own. It was often during this process of acceptance if the energy would allow the 'claiming' or if it would fight the wielder in some way. Lack of focus or taking in too much could prove to be fatal.
Agnes sat back a moment and considered that last line. Surely she had seen what happened first hand if something was stronger then herself. It had been Blot that brought her back from that. The glance over her shoulder to the small unusual ball of light. She tipped her head a little toward it giving an odd little head butt as the light flickered a shade brighter for a moment. The small grin appeared as she sighed softly then delved back into her reading.
In this she came a cross the information of shields , the variety and intensities. Listed among these were also counter spells. One in particular had caught her eye. Not only could it be used for damaging spell shields but also more..mundane weapons. Shatter. The small shift in her chair as she read further. However the book did not give the spell itself. The young woman looked up and over the library as she pursed her lips.
The silence was interrupted by the scooting of the chair. Very well now to find the spell itself. The young lady moved through the aisles and shelves until finding a compendium of spells. As to who the original creator was of this compendium was uncertain but it carried the information needed. The heavy book was wrestled from the shelf as she made her way back to the table.
The quiet sigh passed her lips as she glanced to the ever present Blot. She smiled and slowly opened the ancient tome and began to search. She tugged her own spell book closer, as some of the spells written within its pages she had used previously without an actual full knowledge of the spell or the science behind how it worked. Her goal however still was to find Shatter.
The lass finally found the spell and copied it to her book, the next step was to learn it in more detail. She glanced out the window as the golden spot on the horizon reminded her she had spent yet another day within the library.. and the growl of her stomach protested somewhat eagerly that it was well past time to eat. She carefully closed the books around her and began to put them away once more. The small yawn passed her lips as she took up her own plain leather bound book and sluggishly departed the library. Food and sleep, she would practice the spell tomorrow.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ( 3/20/11 10:39 PM Est. )
Agnes Clayborn: The young lady made her way through the halls. The basket of items of little consequence within the basket as she slowly pushed the door inward. The eyes peered this way and that before she stepped in further. She bit her lower lip as she looked over the vast room. The deep breath was taken in as she glanced down to the little yellow companion of hers. "Thankfully no one is around? "She lifted a brow before stepping further inside. The door closed behind her causing her to jump slightly then laughed at her own silliness. She drew out her book and walked out onto the floor. "Alright Blot.. you should go for now. "She explained before dismissing the little orb of light. She didn't want to bring it harm. She began to set things out around her as she took out the book. It was held in her hands as she softly read over the spell and its purposed conclusion. She set the basket to the side as she withdrew the small piece of mica. The spell she was working on was simple, or well it seemed so in the books she had been reading. Shatter. The young lady again drew in a deep breath and tried to relax a bit.
She wouldn't attempt leylines this time, but pulling the energy straight from her own core. She was slow in her breathing as she let her eyes shift their focus a bit. Her mind delved into the inner swirling core as she carefully selected a strand of the energy to use. It was most like attempting to straighten and command a spider web to do what you wanted it to do, instead of swaying this way and that.
The soft bite of her lower lip aided in her determination. Unlike ordinary spells, there was no incantation needed, but a direction for the spell to take. Her eyes slowly opened to the real world about her. The small chip of mica in hand as she focused on the first item which was an ugly little cup she had purchased on a whim. At least its sacrifice was going for a good cause. The simple brown eyes watched the cup as she made sure she had a grip upon on her own magic, before forming the spell and her intended purpose on the squat little cup. " Shatter. "She whispered quietly.
While yes there should be something more to it then that, but it was a general idea of what she wanted to happen as she felt the energy building and building as she released it in one go. {f}
The sudden spray of shards had surprised the young one as she yelped and threw up her hands. The wild smile came again as she danced in a small circle. "It worked!! " She called out, of course no one about to see it but her. However that had little to do with her excitement , or even caused her to reign in it some. It had worked! She looked to the next time which was a copper coin, she once more delved into that inward core as she tugged again on the threads of energy , allowing the same process to happen again.
The second piece of mica was tugged from her skirts pocket as she stared at the penny. Calm breath in , then again out. " Shatter. "She spoke again this time with a bit more confidence then the last. {f}
Ginger Complex: ---And here he was in the mage arena---he wore the green robes of the apprentice now and looked over at where Agnes was and smiled a little bit.- "Hey there....you are practicing huh?" -His eyes turned towards her as he walked out
Ginger Complex: towards where she was and watched. The red head curiously would make of her progress and prolly had kinda messed her up! Gah he covered his mouth now-[d]
Agnes Clayborn: She jerked a bit as she tried to keep her focus on that copper coin, while it wasn't as fun as watching the mug explode, the copper did warp in an odd manner. She winced and looked at it before looking up to Beetle. " Good afternoon. "She offered softly , leaning down to pick up the coin, turning it this way and that. " It would seem I still have work to do. "She admitted. {f} ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
March 22 2011 Agnes Clayborn: The young lady once again donned the dark green robes as she walked into the arena. The deep breath was taken in as she turned over the triangle again in her head. Fire, Earth, Air, Water..Aether. Of all the energies she would have imagined herself to do well with.. she had failed. twice. The small shake of her head was given as she seated herself once again and pondered what to do now.
She tugged out a small cup and walked out onto the mats. There was a few things she wished to inspect about the spell she had been working on. So she sat the cup down and stepped back a pace. The tug of the energy came to her forethoughts as she whispered her chosen spell to work against. A simple shield spell as she capped off the cup.
Agnes Clayborn: With it now sealed she brought her foot up and stomped it as it bounced off and nearly caused her to trip. She laughed at herself and shook her head. "That was smart. "She muttered to herself. The sleeves were pushed up as she moved back a few paces then stared at the cup, more importantly the shield. The deep breath drawn in as she focused that lasso of energy again. "Shatter."She stated firmly.
Agnes Clayborn: She grinned as she watched the spell break apart leaving the cup to stand alone. So.. it worked.. tomorrow she would try the spell on something metallic. Such as a blade or armor. If it worked she had a little trick for the Mock War. {f{
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ March 23, 2011 Agnes Clayborn: The young lady had made her way yet again into the common area of the arena. She did her practicing here in the wee hours, first there was no one around. Secondly because if something went wrong? It was a more controlled environment. The dark hair was carefully and quickly swept up into a knot as she yawned. The dark brown eyes blinked sleepily. She had collected a few off items, a battered breast plate and a dagger that was dull and nearly unusable for anything else.
She paced into the center of the arena and carefully sat both items down. The few steps back were taken as she looked first to the breast plate. Since neither item was imbued with any enchantments of their own, surely her own craft would have a greater effect. Hm. That was the hypothesis. Brown eyes rested on the plate again and the eyes slowly shifted their focus. The thread drawn from the core as she didn't speak the word, but what should be needed was merely the will and intent. {f} OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 35-sided die: 25 Agnes Clayborn: ( medicore ) Agnes Clayborn: She frowned a little when she looked at the breast plate as it warped and cracked the armor straight across the torso. Her eyes turned then to the pathetic looking dagger. The attention was more fixed this time as she narrowed Agnes Clayborn: her eyes just a bit. OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 35-sided die: 23 Agnes Clayborn: Medicore* ) Agnes Clayborn: She gave a small grin and chuckled softly as she looked at both pieces. Excellent! Now she needed to go and look up her next spell to work on. It would be a bit more fun then the first. {f}

( Bladed Butterfly ) March 25 2011
The young lady had spent days working on an idea. However it was now time to put in the research needed to make the idea a reality. The soft steps manuvered a path through the halls up to the library. She spent most of her time there anyway. The bobble of light followed her without fail.
She approached the doors to the library and slipped inside. The usual unmarked book within her hands carried as she set a path toward the natural history area of the shelves. Ironcially she had already begun to memories the location of certain task books. The quiet was appreicated while she sought out the indentification of insects.
With the correct book in hand she walked back to the usual table as Blot had already gone over and hovered above her chair. The small nod was given to it while she seated herself. The eyes slid over the table of contents to the chosen chapter of butterflies. She was rather impressed at the amount of the fluttering images of complexities.
She shifted a little while a foot tucked beneath her leg, now it was time to figure out which one would be best to use for her purposes. The dark eyes slid into the landscape of words and images posted on the pages within the book. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ March 26 The young lady returned to her room with the books in hand as she eyed the doorhandle then shifted and shuffled books around before finally getting the door open. The swirl of light came passed her shoulder as Blot brightened up. She gave a nod and kicked the door closed behind her.
The books were set out onto the table, since she rarely ate there , it had become an impromptu desk. She took a moment to brighten the room with the lights as she walked over and pulled out several sheets of paper and the stylus she had. The supplies set out as she began to go through and open the books to the pages and such that she liked.
The stylus was lifted and the eyes darted back and forth between the two as she began to sketch out her idea of what the butterfly should look like, of course with that also came an understanding of how the wings worked.. why they worked. The size of the body in comparison to the wings. The techinical aspect of the butterfly.
The hours passed and the books litered her living quarters as she continued to work on the exact design as well as getting to know more about the internal and external workings of the butterfly. It was best to know all the information upon a test subject before moving forward with the idea. There were pinned up sketches here and there from all the ideas she had , still pausing now and then to pull that picture down and add or change a detail. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ March 28
The young lady seated herself in the middle of her room. The couch and other items were pressed against walls and shoved out of the way as she drew a pentagram upon the floor. It simply wouldn't do if the whole thing exploded and made a mess of the apartment entirely.
The bits and pieces of sticks and parchment taken with her as she began the process of putting together the Butterfly. The small hands carefully cut out the wings , then set them aside to fashion the body from part of a clothes pin. She bit her bottom lip as she glanced up at the far away picture that was still taped to a wall.
The eyes returned their focus as she pressed outward with the energy to bind the two. The course of the focus shifted only slightly as she blinked and realized she had accidently sent the entire thing on fire. The yelp was given as she waved it around in hopes of putting out the tiny flame. The paper wings fell off and fluttered to the floor as she cried out again and stomped it out. The sigh was given as she looked at the items used and realized.
Perhaps it would be best not to use something like this.. flamable items as she sighed and blew the dark hair from her face. " Buggers. " The slow step out of the pentagram as she sought out the cleaner needed to wash the pentagram off the floor..as well as the scorch mark. Hm.. that may be a good place for a rug! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ March 29
Agnes Clayborn: "I'm not very good with the Aether , though I am working with it. "She admitted. " It is merely an adjustment of an idea, I'm not typically a person that believes in harm.. but to take something beautiful and change it a little. " Agnes Clayborn: She wasn't explaining this very well. So.. best to make the damned thing and they could possibly tell her what she was doing wrong. The last poor test subject sort of well.. it didn't go well. {f}
tempered winds: "Alright. Let's see it then." He nodded and settled back in his seat to watch. Hopefully it wasn't something that was going to shoot off and hit him from where Agnes was standing.
Agnes Clayborn: Brown eyes shifted their focus a little to the sand in her hands as she concentrated, far enough away from the others incase it was another failed attempt. If all went as it was supposed to , the little silvered butterfly would Agnes Clayborn: take shape out of the sand. The edgings of the wings however were extremely sharp. {f} OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 35-sided die: 24 Agnes Clayborn: (hooray not a 3 )
tempered winds: [ yay! ]
seekthefallen: [ Mediocre! Yay! lol ]
Agnes Clayborn: ( well would have made it cut her hand cause. I'm mean to her like that )
tempered winds: [ lol xD ]
Agnes Clayborn: The sand shifted as the first flutter of the silvered wings came and the tiny butterfly lifted about an inch off her hand. She grinned and looked over at them. It landed again on the tips of her fingers as she slowly walked back Agnes Clayborn: with it. " Bladed Butterfly. "She showed it off. Hey she was proud of it.. the last one the wings were lopesided and it shattered when it fell out of her hand. {f}
tempered winds: "Hey, that's pretty neat. It looks awfully sharp too." He grinned and applauded. "This can do some damage, no doubt."
Agnes Clayborn: " I am not sure of how much damage a little butterfly can do. " She shrugged a bit. " but there is a small problem. "She sighed softly then lifted it up toward her lips. Then blew harshly on its side as the poor buttefly did not Agnes Clayborn: fly very well and tumbled to the sand , before reverting again back into sand. " It doesn't hold up very well."She admitted. Well it was a work in progress. {f{
DevolthDagora: He would nod as that was indeed an interesting little ability she had. "I'm sure you will be able to work it out soon enough.
tempered winds: "Hmm. Well, you should work on perfecting the form first. That one wing looked a little off from the rest so it probably threw off the balance. Once you have perfected the form, then you can work on control. With enough practice, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ March 30th
Agnes Clayborn: The young woman appeared again in the arena, since everyone was gone she sighed softly and made her way in further to the sands. The absence of the emotions was not nearly the troublesome task for her that it was for others. She Agnes Clayborn: found it a blessing reprieve from the hurt feelings of the failed dinner and so forth of the evening past. The ash gray young lady brought several items out of the pockets of her robes as she glanced over her shoulder to the dim Agnes Clayborn: lopsided orb of light. There was no smile offered but the glance beyond then looking back to the creation. Blot took the hint and eased away, though because of the distance it began to brighten in its shine. The quiet return of Agnes Clayborn: her gaze to the items she had brought with her. Each time she had attempted this particular spell something had been out of cynic. She hoped in part the silence now would help with all that. She drew in a slow breath and released Agnes Clayborn: it. The Bladed Butterfly was her creation. While others sought to throw balls of fire and hurl dagger like shards of ice. Agnes had come to the conclusion that not everything had to be so elementally the same. She let her eyes Agnes Clayborn: slowly shift from their focus as she formed the image within her head. The small hand lifted to hold her palm upward while she began to bind the energies into the image she sought. {f} OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 35-sided die: 29 (Mediocre) Agnes Clayborn: The swirl of the aether build together as the first glimpse of the steel wings fluttered. She had managed silver before..but that wasn't what she was seeking. As the silver could accidentally poison some of those of the lycanthrope Agnes Clayborn: nature. She wasn't seeking to kill anyone. She watched it and smiled as she knelt down with the butterfly within her hand. She lifted a bit of parchment and meant to brush it across the wings as it was sliced by the flutter. She Agnes Clayborn: grinned and opened her hand completely. The tiny butterfly moved to the edge of her finger tips then launched itself into the air. This was the moment of truth if it would fly or not. The first few flutters hadn't carried it far Agnes Clayborn: as it tipped and started to fall by the side. The young woman could not feel the disappointment that would have normally associated itself with the failure. Though she did take a moment and slightly "tweak" the creation. The Agnes Clayborn: Energy was engaged enough to slightly lengthen the wings, and lighten the weight of the body itself. {f{ OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 35-sided die: 34 ( Advanced) Agnes Clayborn: The subtle changes seemed to make a difference as it tipped upward , the flashes of the steeled wings caught the air as it rose upward. The small rise of a brow appeared when butterfly rose in that puppet on a string flight.

(Enchant Item ) March 30
The young lady found her way with an easy step toward the library,the odd light bobbled along with her. She had spoken with Yuriko a day or so passing , and in that she spoke of enchantment of items. Agnes couldn't help but become excited over the prospect. She made her way back through the shelves and along the aisles as she sought out the books she wanted.
The odd orb of light moved along another shelf as well while she read over titles printed on the spines of the books. She finally found what she was hoping for. Or well she hoped it was what she was looking for. The quiet whisper of her skirts moved along the floor as she opened up the large tome within her hands.
The sudden tug of the chair was drawn out as the little light floated back up toward the surface with a quick dimming of the light before brightening again and hover over the table. She set the book down with a reverence before the smile was shared with the light. The scent of the book was old and musty as she carefully opened its cover. The leather crackled softly as she took in a deep breath. The fingers were careful not to press upon the page but linger a mere milimeter above it.
" Here we go.. embue items.. "She whispered and couldn't stop the wide smile as if she had gotten a long awaited gift. She shifted a little in the chair as she began to flip though the chapters of the book. Before coming upon the well scripted hand writting. Agnes ignored the lateness of the time as she curled a foot up into the chair with her, her eyes eagerly devouring the words and explantion of the spell.
" There are times that a mage may over extend themselves.. it is because of this flaw, one takes their energy and their thoughts and combines them with an item. " She began as she read aloud to the glowing light. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ April 1
Agnes had spent several days reading all that she could get her hands onto. The dark eyes absorbing information as she took notes that may be necessary later. The eyes looked over the list one morning as she gave a little nod. The trip to the apothicary was in order. She paused and picked up the small pouch of coin before donning the shaw over her shoulders. There were some habits that were still difficult to break.
The smile touched her lips, faint and fleeting when she arrived outside the shop. The deep breath was drawn in of the combination of herbal and mineral elements that were kept inside. The eyes widened just a hair when she did push passed the door. The woman behind the counter offered a sunny smile as Agnes ducked her head. The young Lady knew full well it was going to be difficult to get only what she needed.
The basket was taken up while she began her shopping. There were things not on the list however Agnes deemed it necessary to have them anyway. Cones of incense and salts .. the eyes roamed the different candles as she picked out several of those as well. she approached with her list as she laughed softly. " I only needed these things here... "She admitted with a small blush and offered over the list as the herbs that were listed were in bulk behind the counter.
The sales lady winked at her. " However isn't it nice to be able to find other things to be handy later? "She asked as she turned and moved off to retrieve what it was that Agnes needed. The young lady stood there a moment before adding a few other small things to her basket. When it came time to pay for it all, she listened to the extrodinarily high price but well.. what good was it gain a divide end from one's parents if you aren't going to use it? She counted out the alotted coin before taking back the basket of goodies.
" Thank you miss.. Good day. "She offered warmly a bit eager to put away her new treasures and try the spell ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ April 3
There were a few things to contemplate when it came to learning this particular spell. While the spell itself was rather complicated, there was also the need to pick out an item as well as what spell one wanted to place upon it. Item selection was the more difficult of the two, because it wasn't until she understood and picked what item would benefit most from being embued with a spell.
The young woman had set out all the components on a table. The young lady looked around to select something to use. The eyes landed on the white and gold bound book she had gotten in the dragon's lair. The small grin appeared as she walked over and pulled it from the shelf. The hand brushed across the pure white cover as she carried it over to the table.
Now then the item selected she had to determine what spells she wanted to place upon the book. She turned to the collection of books she had acquired. One of which was tugged down and set out onto the table as well. She absently flipped through the table of contents as her eyes slid along the column of names. Arcane Lock.. that seemed promising. Though it was often used for doors and portals, it would also keep nosy people out of one's personal thoughts.
She pulled up a chair to study the spell for Arcane Lock as well as committing the spell to bind the spell to the book. The two together had to be kept completely seperate within her mind to ensure that she didn't accidently mingle them while casting. The Little Gods themselves would be the only ones to know what would happen then, if she failed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ April 5
Agnes Clayborn: The young lady had slipped into her robes as she walked into the arena. The book within her hand while she looked about. The silence was welcomed when she looked to the central floor. The book was looked at for a moment then Agnes Clayborn: walked out onto the floor itself. The small orb of wobblely light appeared at her shoulder when she slowly placed the book onto the floor. From a pocket she withdrew a small piece of chalk. The images within her head remained Agnes Clayborn: while she drew the circles on the floor. With the variety of schools that participated here, she wanted to ensure that this spell was guarded. She traced the symbols with careful precision before stepping back to look at it. Only Agnes Clayborn: when she was satisfied it was complete, she retrieved the book. The free hand lifted the skirts and robe hem both to ensure she didn't blur the lines while she stepped into the center of the circle. The soft breath was released Agnes Clayborn: when she slowly seated herself within the protective circle. There were days when things.. came to her. As if something whispered within her ears of how to do things. Of course she dared not speak to anyone of this happening. Agnes Clayborn: They would consider her mad. Her parents had, and most certainly the Mother Superior at the Cloister had believed her unsteady within her mind. Agnes Clayborn: The book rested now on her lap while her hands folded graciously over its cover. The brown eyes slowly shifted from their view of the real world to partake of the creation of the magical one. Agnes Clayborn: She firmly afixed the image in her head, the mark in which she would use for her own magic. The soft slow breath inward while her mental hands began to delve into the churning core. She lifted her hands , using the tip of her Agnes Clayborn: finger as she traced the mark upon the cover of the dull leather book. Each movement of her hand acrossed the pages she pressed gently outward with her magic. OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 35-sided die: 23 Agnes Clayborn: (medicore) Agnes Clayborn: She slowly opened her eyes to peer down at the image and smiled softly. That was the first to be done here. Now to apply an arcanic lock to the pages and book itself. She worked very hard upon the small collection of spells. Agnes Clayborn: She planned to keep them hers. The secondary spell came instantly to her mind as she continued to weave the threads of the energy around the book itself. With only the command word would the words within the book be seen. OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 35-sided die: 34 Agnes Clayborn: (Advanced) Agnes Clayborn: The young woman slumped a little as the last spell was enacted. The grin remained as she glanced up to Blot that hovered just outside the circle. " There, we may write whatever we wish now.. only we can read it."She winked slowly Agnes Clayborn: at the dancing orb of light. Agnes Clayborn: She slowly released her hold upon that internal core , relaxing a bit while the magic simply coarsed through her. She remained silent for now within that warding circle. The feel of the other conflicting energies had no place Agnes Clayborn: there. She let her mind drift as it wished.. here and there. Focusing upon nothing at all, yet everything at once. It was as if she sat within a small corner of her mind and watched things play out before her. Memories and ideas Agnes Clayborn: very much like a young museum with only part of the walls painted. It was uncluttered by attachments. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ April 7th The dorm room was quite as she seated herself at the desk. The dark eyes stared off a little before the quill was tapped on the edge of the inkpot. The small sigh was given while she settled into her thoughts. That was the true gift of warding the book. That way she could literally write anything that crossed her mind and never fear someone's intentions.
The soft scratching of the quill acrossed the old worn books pages as she paused and canted her head. There was quite a bit really to get caught up on. Coming to a new place, the people not to mention the things she had seen and witnessed. The accomplishments had been able to successfully perform here. Was it really a bit over kill to actually place an arcane lock on the book itself? One didn't know her siblings.
The glance up to the clock as she winced, dagged.. it was time to go.. she had to visit with her sisters as she promised to meet them for tea. The book was closed and the lock initiated as she gathered up her things. The typical dull dress worn as she glanced to Blot. The light slowly faded. It would not join her among her family. Which was entirely understandable.. they simply didn't understand her thoughts or abilites. However something else to write about later.
She dashed out and cut her way through to the market place. The two women waited at the corner they had agreed to meet at as the giggling hugging reunion took place. Her elder sister already swollen again with another child , though it seemed to suit her best. The younger was still in the glow of newly married. The three slipped off to lunch. The usual gossip to be had and the light meal was shared. Agnes excused herself for a moment as both women glanced to the book left behind. The little nibbly nosed girls couldn't resist finding out just what their little Agnes had been hiding.
Agnes was returning to the table the sudden flash of light and the squeals of their dismay brought a small slow smile to her lips. She returned looking at them both as she chuckled quietly. Their finery was ruined with the soot from the flash as she reached out and took her book back. The small shake of her head was given as she paid for the lunch and promised to see them both soon. Let them take that back to her parents! Cloister indeed.. she'd treasure their expressions for a lifetime!

( Animate Rope ) April 11th There was no particular rush for her steps along the hallways of the College. She knew the path by heart in either case. The dull book was cradled close as she meandered. She had to seek a direction, truly that was a rather profound statement all within itself.
A direction of study as well as a direction of her life. SHe had always believed if she gave herself to the magic, that it would provide that path. Instead it offered yet more choices and other openings of what could be. She had come to terms that she was simply not one to be a necromancer. And she had a very strong dislike of Zombies. ugh .. the thought of them made her shiver with revulsion.
The small young Lady stepped through the doors into the library, her home away from home. She drew in a deep breath of the musty scent of pages and dust. Odd.. the only name she would place for that was .. it was the smell of knowledge. The thread of energy was released as the oddly shaped bobble of light appeared just at her shoulder.
" Good morning Blot. "She spoke softly as she walked further inside. She wasn't sure where to go from here however. So many aisles that offered a different venue. It was like being set free in a market place candy store. She had but to pick as she looked up at the Orb. " Where do we go from here? "She inquired. The orb brightened then shot off down an aisle, curiously she followed as it showed her the way. When she arrived at the shelves she stared then looked up at the light. "You're certain? "She seemed puzzled but the book was taken down.. . well alright. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ April 13th The young lady wasn't entirely sure what Blot had been so insistant upon this particular spell book, however the orb of light had been guiding her since she was quite small. It saved her from the darkness and the would be imaginary monsters that lurked beneath her bed and hid deep within the shadows of her closet! She shifted a little in the chair as she made herself comfortable.
The book was laid open on the table as she continued to study the effects of the spell. If nothing else this particular spell would be quite handy when it came down to missions and quests. She absently toyed with the edge of the book as she fixed the whole thing firmly within her mind. "Animate Rope" It seemed honestly easy enough to achieve , though it did have its limitations.
Animate Rope Transmutation Level: Brd 1, Sor/Wiz 1 Components: V, S Casting Time: 1 standard action Range: Medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level) Target: One ropelike object, length up to 50 ft. + 5 ft./level; see text Duration: 1 round/level Saving Throw: None Spell Resistance: No You can animate a nonliving ropelike object. The maximum length assumes a rope with a 1-inch diameter. Reduce the maximum length by 50% for every additional inch of thickness, and increase it by 50% for each reduction of the rope's diameter by half. The possible commands are “coil” (form a neat, coiled stack), “coil and knot,” “loop,” “loop and knot,” “tie and knot,” and the opposites of all of the above (“uncoil,” and so forth). You can give one command each round as a move action, as if directing an active spell. The rope can enwrap only a creature or an object within 1 foot of it—it does not snake outward—so it must be thrown near the intended target. Doing so requires a successful ranged touch attack roll (range increment 10 feet). A typical 1- inch-diameter hempen rope has 2 hit points, AC 10, and requires a DC 23 Strength check to burst it. The rope does not deal damage, but it can be used as a trip line or to cause a single opponent that fails a Reflex saving throw to become entangled. A creature capable of spellcasting that is bound by this spell must make a DC 15 Concentration check to cast a spell. An entangled creature can slip free with a DC 20 Escape Artist check. The rope itself and any knots tied in it are not magical. This spell grants a +2 bonus on any Use Rope checks you make when using the transmuted rope. The spell cannot animate objects carried or worn by a creature.
She canted her head slightly to the side and gave a small nod. " Well.. we'll go tomorrow to the arena and try it out? "She looked up to the light that bobbled and brightened slightly. She laughed softly and reached out a finger to spin the orb. "Silly light.. now then .. we're going to need some rope.. " She stated closing the book and rising from the table as she grinned.
"I think we may be able to find some at the market.. care to go with me? "She inquired as she tucked the book beneath her arm and set toward the door. The flash of the light zoomed after her and bounced and twirled at her shoulder. The soft giggle was given while she swore sometimes.. all it was missing was floppy ears and a tail. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ April 14 Agnes Clayborn: The young lady walked into the arena. It was basically the work room they all used when actually attempting a spell. The new dark blue robes were worn as she smiled down at them. The coil of rope hanging from her hand as she Agnes Clayborn: walked out into the sand. The book was set down by her feet as she smiled. The heavy coil of rope was set out before her as she crouched down and opened the book. The small frown touched her face as she read over the words once Agnes Clayborn: again. She understood the magic she was capable of weilding didn't require such, however it was good to have an understanding of the spell itself. She stood back up and lifted her chin. The eyes slowly unfocused from the world Agnes Clayborn: around her to focus more on the magical auras. She drew slowly from the churning core while her eyes rested upon the mundane rope. The outward press extended to wrap around the rope entirely, from end to end. It was then the soft Agnes Clayborn: words were spoken. " Coil. "She commanded. {f} OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 40-sided die: 27 Agnes Clayborn: ( Medicore) Agnes Clayborn: The rope rose and wrapped neatly into the coil as she grinned. The deep breath was taken in while she walked a bit further away. Distance was something she would need to practice as well. " Knot" She commanded again. {f } OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 40-sided die: 16 Agnes Clayborn: ( Medicore ) Agnes Clayborn: The tends formed knots though they were sloppy as she frowned softly and gave a small nod. " Untie" She commanded a bit more sternly. {f} OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 40-sided die: 28 Agnes Clayborn: ( medicore ) Agnes Clayborn: The knots loosened and fell to the ground. She chuckled softly as she gave a small nod. " Coil! " {f{ OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 40-sided die: 40 Agnes Clayborn: The rope snapped to its coiled state once more as she bounced and laughed brightly. {f} Agnes Clayborn: Now this.. would be handy upon their missions! Agnes Clayborn: ( End Log ) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ April 15
Now then she had gotten the spell down, the problem now was the weight and carrying the rope itself. Not to mention tossing it. The young lady stood silent in the middle of the magi's arena with the heavy rope half slung over a shoulder. It made her way with an odd lean to help her keep her balance.
"Now all we have to do is make sure someone else carries it. "She chuckled to the odd bobble of light. The small wink was given to the orb as she tipped back the other way and let it fall to the floor. UGH! She looked around for a long moment , she needed a moveable target. There were small things here and there.. but she was looking for a coat rack maybe.. or something of an alike shape.
She took note of one of the dummies that had been blown apart more times then it looked to have withstood. The stuffed limps hung off in little charcoaled whelps. It would do.. as she marched over and with a seris of grunts and mumbled words she drug it out across the sand. It was in these moments she missed the servants from home. Ah well, she was now an independant young Lady, she'd just have to learn to do this on her own.
She sighed and brushed off her hands as she walked the twenty or so paces back to where she had left the rope. With a small frown of determination she picked up the end and gave it a toss toward the poor dummy. It felt short, obviously as she canted her head. Alright.. another try! The rope didn't go quite as far as she had hoped.
After several attempts and a very sore arm, she took to the idea of tying a good knot in the end of the rope. Swinging it about before she let it fly toward the dummy. Still a bit short as she tugged it back to her. The next several hours were much of the same thing. Throwing the rope lead out and dragging it back toward her. This could get exhausting long before she ever got to the spell! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ April 16
Agnes Clayborn: The young lady made her way through the halls, the rope carried on a shoulder while she glanced around. The garden had various items that could be used for her study. The quiet grunt was given while she shouldered and shifted Agnes Clayborn: the weight of the rope. She had come to realize her efforts weren't entirely in vain, but what she lacked was weight at the end of the rope. Agnes needed something that wouldn't impeed the spell for the rope but add the necessary Agnes Clayborn: weight for the rope to be cast to a further location. She stood within the gardens and smiled at the numerous items here and there that were far enough away to simulate the distance of a ledge or trap. The young lady shifted her Agnes Clayborn: weight a bit while she picked up the rope and inspected the metal sleeve she had placed at the end of it. She drew in a deep breath and lifted it from its coil. She rolled her shoulder a little before the rope began to sway back Agnes Clayborn: and forth beside her. She drew in another breath before it was twirled and finally flung out before her. Its end landed near the railing for a set of stairs leading up into the Citadel. The hands remained ahold of the other end Agnes Clayborn: of the rope as she closed her eyes. The energy was drawn from her core as it always was before it was released into the hemp wrapped rope. " Tie and Knot. " She commanded. {f } OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 40-sided die: 20 Agnes Clayborn: ( medicore) Agnes Clayborn: She tested the knot itself, giving a firm hard tug. She grinned and gave a small nod. " Untie" She commanded. Well you didn't want to leave the rope behind. {f{} OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 40-sided die: 39 Agnes Clayborn: ( Advanced ) Agnes Clayborn: she slowly coiled the rope back up and grinned as she shouldered it. Now.. to figure out how to make it lighter!

( Soul's Wings ) 4/18/11
The young lady stood within the library. The ideas she had spoke with Agrylax bounced around in her head as she slowly walked through the aisles. The library was one of her most favorite of places to be. The scent of teh books and the soft light, the silence always seemed almost a protective blanket. She absently lifted the medallion from her dress as her thumb circled around it.
The medallion was a gift from her estranged Aunt, the one that no one in the family spoke about. Her mother had been furious for the necklace and demanded she given it back. However Agnes had found that the necklace didn't remove itself very easily from her. As to why that was? Her Aunt had only smiled and said it was a mystery. Agnes never bothered to ask beyond that. It was soothing however to touch the medallion.
"Wings.. what sort of wings.. what shape should they take.. what length should they be.. what color.. does a soul have color? "She questioned aloud as she looked up at the books and sighed softly. The finger traced along the back of the books as she began to select different ones. She absently flipped through the book.. then set it back down.. selecting the books that offered detailed pictures of the wings and all their designs.
The quiet sigh passed her lips as she walked over and set the pile of books down and began to open the pages. The sketch pad was set out before her. Images always helped her with the design and creation of a spell. It had taken her weeks of going through the different structures of the butterflies to decide upon one certain pattern. Now.. however this would taken agreat deal longer needing to made the decision of what basic shape.. how it would function, what functions it would have.. would they be capable of flight.. if so they had to be a certainly length by percentage of body mass.
The mathematics involved was taking up quite a bit of time as the cleaning crew came in. She hadn't realized this was taking her well into the early morning hours.. she couldn't really remember when it was she had come in. Though her stomach protested a little for the lack of food. She would in a bit. .as she continued her work, ignoring the sighs of the cleaning crew as they had to work around her.
4/20/11
Well into the second day of the study she had to go and find something to eat. Not because she was in any sort of hurry to do so.. Blot refused to leave the page she was in the process of reading. The sigh passed her lips as she closed up the books and carried them with her as she set off for the kitchens. The quiet steps moved through the halls slowly while her mind still ran rampid with the complexities of this particular spell.
Agrylax had been , oddly enough, very encouraging throughout the study for this one. However he was more of the lines of thought of just let it flow. Yet, it was her soul's energy that would be displayed. One didn't want to appear odd. As if the bookworm didn't already appear that way?
The pause at the Citadel kitchens as she smiled shyly at the workers. The young lady was escorted to a table and promptly fed breakfast. She ate in silence as she kept a hand on her books all the while. The conversations among the workers brought her brows up, though she didn't add anything to their conversation. it.. was beyond her education. She sighed softly and rose again.. as she stepped out into the garden. Her eyes watched the birds as they flew from one branch to another. The study was upon how the wings themselves flexed and moved, the grace in which they flowed and captured the wind for its own .
She bit her lower lip as she looked down. Would hers be so graceful? The yawn passed her lips as she shook her head. No.. work first she could sleep when she got this worked out. The sigh passed her lips as she slowly turned and made her way back up to the library. The pages were just as she had left them.. though she was somewhat surprised by the amount of them. She hadn't remembered doing so many calculations. Though she canted her head looking through some.. and rejected them instantly out of hand. Today she would have work on the rest of the spell.. being able to call her soul's energy into sight. {f}
4/21/11 OnlineHost: *** You are in "Arts and Entertainment - OCS Magi Arena". *** OnlineHost: See what's hot on AIM! Agnes Clayborn: The young lady looked around as she stepped into the arena. She was rather glad that no one was about. the quiet sigh passed her lips as she moved to the sands. The books were set down in passing as she drew in a deep breath. Agnes Clayborn: In order for the spell to work, she needed to be able to draw out the energy until it was exterior of her body. Yet enough remain within to absorb the energy of spells and change it until she could use it herself. The dark eyes Agnes Clayborn: closed as she let herself slip into the churning core within the center of her abilities. The soft sigh passed her lips as she began to draw the threads of it away.. carefully binding it as if knitting it all together. The hands Agnes Clayborn: slowly began to part, the dark eyes carefully opening, however she did not see the world around her. Instead she saw only the magic. The redish orange coloring within her hands was almost frightening, though it was a reflection of Agnes Clayborn: herself. The hands raised slowly to fan it out before her. The little shudder came as she grasped at the sight of it. It didn't remain the dark ruddy color, but as it began to uncurl the coloration shifted into no true color at Agnes Clayborn: all but that of irridecent rainbow of colors. She stared at it amazed as she reached out a finger to touch it, causing waterlike ripples to move through the energy field. Yet it was still bound to herself by the silver thread. Agnes Clayborn: Now.. could she hold it? {f} OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 40-sided die: 1 OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 10-sided die: 1 ( 1 -- Your magic backfires and hits YOU.) She literally cried when she drew out that thread bare bit of energy and began to apply it to the image within her mind. Of course the freshly branded wings upon her back seared to life as the slow flutter of the irridescent butterfly wings appeared and wrapped around her , if it worked of course, effectiving drawing the energy he had placed into the spell to be channeled into the wings and returned to her core. Agnes Clayborn: She yelped and curled the wings around her as the bolt caused them to fade instantly and she dropped to her knees. {f } Agnes Clayborn: ( Log off ) 4/23/11 Agnes had slept in the day before, needing the time to recover from not only the back firing of the spell, but the three days of study complied before it. She stood within her room and stared into a smaller mirror while her back was bared to the tall stand up mirror. The tears formed and gently rolled down her cheeks as she stared at the now etched back. The wings she had called upon for her spell, now permanently apart of herself.
The once soft smooth alabaster skin ruined by the scarring of the wings that started near her spin then fanned out across her narrow back. The sigh passed her lips as she shook her head. Her Aunt had warned her that all magicks had a price, Even those delicate passive ones that Agnes was so fond of. Agnes slowly dressed herself once more. Carefully however as not to draw attention nor cause any undue friction against the still healing skin of her back. The dark blue adepts robes were drawn on as well before her trip down to the Arena.
Agnes Clayborn: The young lady made her way into the arena. She was alone as she had been before. Her mind was more sharply focused upon the Soul's Wings then she had been before. The dark hair was allowed to trail down along her shoulders and Agnes Clayborn: the tips curled near the center of her back. The dark blue robes whispered around her as she stepped out into the sand. The deep breath was drawn in. The pattern now fixed firmly in her mind of what the Wings themselves would Agnes Clayborn: look like. She knew.. since they were now burnt permanently into her back. Closing her eyes she began to focus on the spell itself. Agnes Clayborn: The image of the wings came to mind as the gentle pulse of her energy her.. very soul was mingled with the magic. The thin silver thread , to be seen only with mage sight. The push outward of the energy that churned within her Agnes Clayborn: core rose up within her hands as she called for the wings to unfurl and take shape. Once this was accomplished she lifted her chin. The eyes stared off into the far wall. Now or never right? She brought the newly made wings Agnes Clayborn: upward and around herself. Living for the moment within the sweet turbulence of her own souls energy, circulating from wing tip back into her inner core. OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 40-sided die: 34 Agnes Clayborn: ( Advanced ) Agnes Clayborn: She smiled and looked at the wings as they slowly extended outward. No they weren't angelic , not even feathered at all. They were of course the insect wings of a butterfly as they fluttered. She smiled softly as they closed in Agnes Clayborn: around her yet again. The deep breath was drawn in while she absorbed some of the energy residue left behind by previous duels. The wings design was to harbor that and draw it in, stoking that internal core of hers. Similar to a LovelyGeminiCat: -He would head in, with his feathered black phoenix wings. He was pretty much a nervous wreck.- Agnes Clayborn: filter. The wings themselves were larger then she was tall. The iridescent glow offered a true rainbow of color instead of any one shade. She felt the shift in the energy as he stepped in. The small lady in blue robes looked Agnes Clayborn: at him. " good evening to you Maks. "She chimed up softly. {f } LovelyGeminiCat: Hey Agnes. Agnes Clayborn: "Are you alright? { LovelyGeminiCat: Yeah. Just a bit agitated. Agnes Clayborn: "What happened? " LovelyGeminiCat: Just worried about my brother. Agnes Clayborn: "Misha? "She lifted a brow and looked at him oddly. " Why? " LovelyGeminiCat: He's been going through some changes. Changes that I'm worried about. Agnes Clayborn: " I heard him speak about them with Mister NeCross. He seems to think that Misha is an Incubus." Agnes Clayborn: She closed her eyes and allowed the wings to disappear once more, drawing in the energy to close the spell. {f} OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 40-sided die: 19 Agnes Clayborn: ( Medicore )

The young woman pondered what it was she wished to do. She drew a breath in as she walked through the gardens. She had come to the determination that she would not always be the bookworm, hiding away within the shadows of the shelves and remaining the timid creature of habit. She wanted adventure, she felt alive.. breathless to fear that released the endorphines of excitment. However in order to remain of some use, she would have to push herself a bit more.
The Soul's Wings were useful, for her, but would not aid any comrades around her. The purse of her lips came while her hands folded before her. What would serve best when happening acrossed such monsters? Would it not be best if they could not move against the entire group?
She had seen a spell for such, it was called Hold Monster. She couldn't hold them all, but certain those that they worked upon? She gave a small nod as she returned her steps to carry her back inside to the library. Now came the time to locate the spell once more. The soft whisper of the skirts around her ankles brushed along the floors as she pushed open the door to the library.
For Agnes it was very much like returning home. The dark eyes swept acrossed the row upon row of the shelves. She smiled softly as she called Blot to her side as the light danced with the freedom it gained once more. Zipping this way and that, Agnes set forth to locate the spell and begin her study of the spell.
4/24/11 Sunday morning brought the soft chirping of the birds as the young lady looked up slowly from her book. She had done it again.. studying well through the night. The small yawn was captured by her hand as she looked around. The quiet sigh accompanied her pushing herself up out of the chair. The books littered the table, as she searched for the spell. Finding others of course that peeked her interest as well.
The sleepy eyed lass carefully began to collect the pile, closing them with a last glance over the spells before carrying them back to their proper shelves. She had finally located the spell she required. Though spent the evening investigating other mages that had used the spells, seeking any advantage as well as any disadvantage to it. After the back firing of the last spell, Agnes was being quite cautious about it.
With her luck, if this one misfired it would call monsters, not hold them at bay. She had to chuckle softly at that while putting the books away. The nuzzle of the small light caressed her cheek. " I am alright , Blot. Tired but alright. "She reassured the small bobble of light. The light dimmed then brightened again. " Yes I need to go to the market but I need to change clothing to do so. "she stated. The young lady returned to pick up her book and clear away the rest of her things.
She passed by the cleaning crew as they were coming in, the small smile was given to them as she noted the small reproachful looked of one of the older women. She wrinkled her nose a bit and slipped off. Best to be out of her way else she start chiding Agnes for her habits again. As she cut through the citadel to head back to the Legion house she paused into the kitchens, the scent of missed breakfast brought her to a stop .. a bit of bread and bacon snitched before she was shooed on her way.
She devoured the bit of breakfast before stopping in at her rooms to change her clothing into something more suitable. The closet of dim colored clothing didn't offer much in the way of fashion sense but it was suitable for her station. She was now dressed and groomed , the basket to carry her few precious items and coin purse, was slipped over her arm. The paces taken toward the market within the city's core. It always brought a warm smile for the mingling of colors and scents. The small orb of light had tucked itself down into her basket while she made her way through to speak with different venders and merchants.
Her path was to the apothecary, the list buried within the basket. The young lady offered a warm smile to the proprietor as she ducked her head. "Good Morning. "She offered with the warm tone. As she began to walk through the store of odd scents and stranger components. She walked slowly down the aisle as she looked at some of the items then collected what it was she needed. As she approached the counter she drew out the rest of her list. She spoke quietly with the owner before paying for her purchases. Some of which were not on the list but the curiosity of what they were couldn't be curtailed.
Once the purchases were made, she thought perhaps to linger longer in the markets but the yawn again escaped her. No.. sleep first then she would begin the first attempt of the spell. However something did occur to her, she'd have to learn one more spell before using the one she currently worked on. Later..she would investigate that.. later. Now her body demanded a nap.
4/29/11 It had been several days and she was busy with the learning of the Summoning spell which had placed this one on hold. She hadn't meant to do it that way, however the only way she could see to practice this spell was to learn the other first. The young woman paused and needing a change of pace from the Summoning spell she again looked over the contents of the Hold Spell.
The young lady settled the book before her as she sought to clear her mind. The orgastration of the spells was going to be rather unique. One would have to go and the concentration held , while the second cast. She let her mind slowly clear of everything, listening to the silence within her dorm. The sounds of the neighbors to either side of her were ignored while she focused on her breathing.
Slowly in.. then out.. once she had achieved that space of calm, she slowly drew forward the complexities of the spell itself. The slow deliberate unraveling of the true making of the spell. The silent notations of where something would need to be added. while there were others that would have to be strengthened in order to ensure the spell function at its best.
She carefully persued those lines and disected the spell with the curious precision. She liked nice neat and orderly, not to mention the last spell had granted her the wisdom of caution. Now everything was inspected and checked several times over before just assuming it was correct. The mental fingers slowly traced and delicately manuvered the small pulse of energy along the strands of thinking. Her minds eye intent on the weave as it worked its way through.
No Agnes had enough scars thus far from her craft.. she'd error on the side of caution from now on.
5/3/11
Now with the summoning spell firmly within her grasp, or so she hoped. She turned her attention once again back to the Hold Spell. She moved through her dorm, collecting her robes and the spell book. The pause to look at the journal that usually accompanied her. She shook her head. Not this time. Though the small fingers brushed acrossed the binding.
" What would you think, I wonder. " She spoke softly as she canted her head looking at the book. " To know that your neice is following the steps you once walked? "She asked. The dark eyes closed for a moment. Oh her parents would indeed be furious, however it was as so many had pointed out to her. Her life. If she wished to live.. really live.. then it would be steps taken outside the library that would lead her to it. Then again so many had opinions of her choices and all with good intentions she had no doubts.
She opened her eyes and sighed again. Never would she have thought she'd have to defend her stance in not harming another. Yet, so many here were absolutely determined life was impossible of living without doing so. And in some aspects they were corect, had she not participated in the adventures and quests in which she had harmed monsters? It was merely nothing she focused the coarse of her study on.
The young woman sighed and shook it off as she made her way out of her dorm and directed her steps down to the Arena. Prehaps some of her magic was indeed frivilious as the title she was born to, but sometimes it wasn't the offensive stance that a person took, but the defence of life that was needed. Not the constant demand of taking.
Or was this too another optimistic idea of the naive?
5/5/11 Agnes Clayborn: After the argument , again, with Agrylax the young lady was somewhat hestitant to return to the sands. She peered into the arena with a soft sigh of relief. Honestly what difference was it that she couldn't do her own laundry? Agnes Clayborn: He was simply being overly difficult, this is why one paid another to do the services for them. It wasn't as if she were demanding the laundress simply do the job without compensation. Then came to insulting manner she should give Agnes Clayborn: up her title and all the rights that came to being born of one of the houses of the Twenty Seven. which was utterly rediciulous as well.. it would be very much like someone telling him to bleach his skin and skip around like a Agnes Clayborn: fairy. HMPH. Though that particular idea did cause her to giggle at the mental image of a froloicking Agrylax. Agnes Clayborn: She managed to finally get herself under control..she was here to finish the spell she had originally begun to work on. The Hold Monster spell. She stepped out into the sands as she purposefully neglected the protective wards as Agnes Clayborn: well one needed an actual monster to hold.. and one bound by the restrictions of those would hardly be much of a challenge. She drew in a deep breath and settled herself before casting the summoning spell. OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 40-sided die: 22 Agnes Clayborn: ( medicore ) OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 13-sided die: 8 Agnes Clayborn: The rise of the smoke came about as the fluff of feathers came about as the fiendish raven looked about, it stood nearly three feet in height. It wasn't at all what Agnes expected, as she stared at the monster. The caw was given Agnes Clayborn: as she winced away from the bird. Its eyes glowed a hellish red as it targeted the seemingly unprotected caller of the spell. The impressive wingspan snapped out as it rushed at her. The young lady stood and drew herself up, Agnes Clayborn: well this is what she wanted as she called the Hold Spell to mind. The small nail was drawn into her hand from a pocket as she called out the Hold Spell. OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 40-sided die: 40 Agnes Clayborn: (Advanced ) Agnes Clayborn: The bird crashed back into the sands as the binding of the spell upset the ability to use its own wings. Agnes smiled and lifted her chin as she looked at the creature while it struggled. The curtsey was given to the bird as she Agnes Clayborn: released the spell and within the next breath dismissed it again to the plane where it had come from. OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 40-sided die: 28 Agnes Clayborn: ( Medicore) Agnes Clayborn: Again the smoke rose up and gathered the monsterous bird as both disappeared. Agnes felt rather excited as she smiled and gave a firm nod. "Useless Noble indeed.. "She spoke with a slightly smug little grin. Well even a bookworm Agnes Clayborn: had a bit of pride. {f}

( Summon Monster ) 4/27/11 <1:13 AM >
The steps carried a purpose as she moved through the halls. The appearance within the library simply wasn't new. The dark bornw eyes flickered acrossed the shelves as she mentally narrowed it all down. The rustle of the gray skirts moved with her as she stepped through the narrow pathways of knowledge.
The finger traced down along the spines of books before she withdrew the one she'd need. The quiet was again interupted by the steps she took back toward 'her' table. Granted it didn't truly belong to her but it was just as much hers , so to speak, as the apaprtment in which she stayed in. The little Gods knew she spent nearly as much time there.
She drew in a deep breath as she slowly seated herself looking at the book. The Art itself was highly controversal. Not with anyone else, her comrades it seemed had little to worry over when it came to such actions but herself. Her own beliefs and partically her faith as she was raised that such things were.. wrong. Then again when taught that those that use the arcane are often only those that seek power and dominance over their fellow man, it was no doubt a reason to have some doubts.
She knew to finish the spell she began before, this one would have to be accomplished first. The deep breath was taken as she eyed the book for several minutes before opening the cover for the first time. The Art of Summoning. She shifted slightly in the chair while her mind took over swiftly , shoving the illogical fears to the side while she sank deeper into the content of the book itself.
4/27/11 <6:35pm>
Agnes buried herself into the books as she read through the chapters of her particular interest. She frowned slightly as she drew a bit of parchment and set it to the side. The hand was busy writing out the small notes she believed would be benefical to her. The small cant of her head was given while she glanced to the notes. It was not often that she found things that contridicted each other however she had come upon it.
The small hand reached for previous book and opened it , letting her attention shift back and forth between the pages as she pondered the differences in the information given. There seemed to be a difference of opinion as to where the creatures that were summoned came from. Also in how they were maintained in control. It was somewhat confusing given the possibilities of what the outcome could be if one lost that control.
One spoke of using wards and needing a protective circle in order to maintain the control, a way to ensure the creature did not attack the summoner. There was a listing nearly three pages long of warnings against such spells. She frowned a little at this while the other spoke of needing only a few simple items to keep the monster/ creature in control. She absently chewed on her lower lip as she set the books down and rose from the chair.
This drew questions to her mind , of which would one follow.. that of caution or the other that stated it was unneeded? She pondered the complexities of the protective circle and all that it entailed. truly it would defeat the purpsoe of learning the spell so that she could finish the other study. She sighed heavily as she allowed herself the moment of meditational thought while she roamed the aisles of the library. In order for her to properly learn how to hold a monster in place, she infact needed to summon the monster, However did she dare do so without limitations or restrictions upon the summoned creature?
4/29/11 Agnes came to a decision, if she had to summon something it had to be something that best suited her. The dark brown eyes paged through books, through articles found within the dark recesses of the Magi Library. And to be absolutely certain there were MANY of those. She canted her head as she read over the information of familiars and other creatures from the other planes.
It was during this time, Blot seemed to have gotten offended and with a sound of a fluttering balloon, the little orb of light vanished. The curious gaze stared for a long moment before she shook her head. SHe had no intention of replacing blot for anything , regardless of its ability to be far more useful then the oddly shaped light. After all Blot had been her best friend for nearly two decades. She sought now was a means to the end of a spell. Nothing more.
The quiet of the library seemed almost oppressive as she sighed and walked toward the window. Within a few moments of prying and glares and one broken fingernail! The window gave way allowing the stir of fresh air into the dusky library as well as the sounds of people. The little nod was given when she returned to the chair and settled in to finish her studying.
The idea was to select something fierce.. but not too fierce.. managable.. at least for her. The small smile touched her lips as she finally came acrossed what it was she was going to summon. The now it was time to go and try out this marvelous idea. Lets hope it abided by the rules she would put in place. The first summons was the most difficult as the limitations and rules were laid down in that first initial meeting.
4/30/11
Agnes Clayborn: After spending a little time outside and enjoying some much needed peace she stepped back into the arena. The deep breath was drawn in as she looked around. Good it was empty. The young lady picked up a stick and with a glance Agnes Clayborn: to the book she began to slowly trace out the runic symbols. The robes were carefully hiked up a bit to allow her to move around without causing any issues or blurring the lines. The soft cant of her head was given while she Agnes Clayborn: checked and compared the diagram , from the book to what was before her. She gave a small nod as she moved little more then ten feet away and began once again to trace the symbols within the book. This particular summonings would Agnes Clayborn: be with full limitations and restrictions. She had to make sure that everything was just as it was supposed to be. There were no blurred edges , no crossed lines where there should be none. The dark eyes studied and stepped back, Agnes Clayborn: slowly walking around it in a circle to ensure of her work. The stick was carefully set to the side while she lifted the robes and skirts once again to step into the first protective circle. The deep breath was taken as she Agnes Clayborn: slowly brought the spell more clearly into her mind. The image of what exactly she wished to call, was also afixed in her mind. The soft roll of the words came from her as she traced the symbols upon the air. The deep breath Agnes Clayborn: was drawn in as she stared at the invisible set of ruins and ignited them with the energy from her core. OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 40-sided die: 34 Agnes Clayborn: ( Advanced ) Agnes Clayborn: The area within the opposing circle shifted and the grayish smoke slowly rose and boiled, twisting as it took shape. The glitter of eyes peered toward the young lady as the first clawed hand lifted to press against the protective Agnes Clayborn: wards. The head was nearly smooth but the ridge of spines that began at the crown and continued toward the creature's back. It slowly rose fully to its height of six and a half feet. Large enough to be imposing as the shoulders Agnes Clayborn: girthed nearly forty inches from end to end. The swath of clothing covered the waist down to the knee. Agnes stared at the creature as it balled up the hand and struck against the wards. " I am the Mistress here.. you will obey." Agnes Clayborn: She stated quietly though for the tiny whisp of a woman , the creature seemed infuriated by that however reluctant it bowed its head to her. She did not break that confident stance as she drew in a breath. " Return. "She stated Agnes Clayborn: opening the portal and sending the creature back to its home plane. OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 40-sided die: 5 Agnes Clayborn: When the portal door refused to open, she seemed somewhat concerned. The creature however smirked at her and lifted its massive fist again and pummeled the edge of the wards. She spoke softly once more, to return the beast back Agnes Clayborn: to its home plane. OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 40-sided die: 36 Agnes Clayborn: (Advanced ) Agnes Clayborn: As the smoke rolled upward again within the confines of the protective wards. Agnes realized at that point she was shaking as she slowly seated herself within the circle.. and closed her eyes. " I did it... I nearly failed..but... Agnes Clayborn: I.. did it. "She whispered and drew in a deep breath and let it out. She looked acrossed the way to the secondary circle and grinned. Summon a bunny her backside! {F
5/2/11
A Dark Orb: ::The drow would make his way into the arena, and as usual he'd take a seat, not wanting to duel:: Agnes Clayborn: Agnes took her time in looking over the area. The sands were carefully smoothed as she looked over to Agrylax. " Good evening. "She spoke softly as the stick was taken up in her hand. The young lady held up the robes and skirts just slightly above the ankle to ensure she didn't mar the sand while she traced down the protective circles. Now and then she paused to look at the book to compare it to what she was doing. She wasn't at all partial to the new robes, the clung to the slight frame a bit then she would have preferred but she'd wear then none the less. The few steps back were taken as she compared once more before walking several steps away to begin a secondary and smaller circle. {f
A Dark Orb: What are you up to over there, Agnes?
Agnes Clayborn: "I'm drawing out the protective circles needed for the summoning spell. "She spoke quietly as she canted her head. The small wrinkle of her nose as she returned back for the rake and flattened the area once more before going through the sketching in the sand. "How is your arm? "She asked softly. {f{
A Dark Orb: The same as it has been for awhile. No need to worry about that. So what are you going to try and summon?
Agnes Clayborn: She paused and compared the dark eyes flickering back and forth once again. "A Mephit "She stated quietly. " I need something that is strong enough to pose a threat, but not so strong willed I can not control it. "She explained
A Dark Orb: Aww...mephits are cute. Kinda weak. And what kind of Mephit are you trying to summon exactly?
Agnes Clayborn: softly as she took a few steps back and gave a nod. The dark eyes looked up at him "I thought perhaps since I am having to do this in sand.. I would call a dust mephit. or well that's the hope. "She admitted as she closed her book and took both the stick and the rake off the sands. {f}
A Dark Orb: While that will make the spell easier to cast, yes, the creature will also have a stronger power here. So it will take less magical energy and more will.
Agnes Clayborn: She looked down and looked up at him " I know. that's more or less the point. "She admitted. Never one to do things the easy way. The young lady walked slowly back out to the protective circles. {f}
A Dark Orb: ::He'd lean back in his seat and waited to see what was going to happen:: Agnes Clayborn: "Well.. wish me luck"She offered softly as she carefully stepped passed the wards sketched out on the floor. The softly spoken word brought the two circles to life. The one she stood within ignited in a warm orange color as the far one had taken up a deeper blue coloring. The slow breathing as she shifted just slightly to get her comfort and confidence up.. she began the soft words to the spell. Generally no the words were not at all needed for her ability of magic, however at this point it helped in slowly defining exactly what she wanted done. The old phrase , word your wishes well? The same general principle. She released the summons , question was.. would it answer. {f} OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 40-sided die: 17 Agnes Clayborn: ( medicore )
A Dark Orb: ::He'd yawn a bit and shook his head. He really didn't think summoning a mephit was up her alley. But he'd keep his comment to himself::
Agnes Clayborn: The coil of air spun within the protective circle as the dust from the sands within the circle gathered and slowly formed. Agnes stood watching as she kept her attention locked directly on the wardings. The creature spun about one last time looking toward the small mage across from it as it charged , only to be cast back into the circle by the protective runes. She knew now was the hard part as she watched it charge again. "Stop. "She stated firmly. A tone she had not used upon anyone here. Not that commanding confident voice that caused the mephit to stare at her. It drew itself up and started forward again. " I said Stop. "She enforced her will upon the small four foot creature . It found itself afixed to the stop as it glared at her, then slowly crouched. When she believed she had done it, the warm smile touching her face.. the Mephit threw itself against the wards again pushing the boundaries of her will. The young lady stepped back a half pace, more simply unready for such from a tiny little thing. She drew herself up and spoke softly again. " Return. " It was time to send it back. {f} OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 40-sided die: 19 Agnes Clayborn: ( Medicore )
A Dark Orb: ::He'd tilt his head as he watched the show. Didn't seem to have gone quite how she wanted:: Told you it would be hard to control here....
Agnes Clayborn: The mephit was less then thrilled about being cast back to where it had come from as the wind swirled within the protective ward again until collapsing to the sands entirely. She sighed softly and gave a little nod. " I wasn't really expecting it to just.. jump like that. "she admitted

( Spell Immunity ) 5/7/11
The young lady walked through the library, she was debating the next spell that had she would spend the time in learning. With the recent rise of the undead seen upon adventures, it was a fair certainty that she should look into , at least, how to get rid of the foul unnatural beasts.
It was along these lines, that kept her moving and contemplating as she walked, however it was the visit from Malak that had left her pondering a promise. A promise that had also sealed her own study. How to remove a curse.
She withdrew a thin bit of parchment as she began to write down her own limited knowledge of curses and so forth. This one was obsession. From what little she had gained from Malak. The small hand scripted out quickly what she knew.. and it was precious little. Indeed, this study maybe a bit more intent the others before. She squared her shoulders and looked about a moment.
Very well, time to educate herself. The first step would be again to locate the darker arts, which she was not happy about, but to remove a curse one had to understand exactly how they worked. Their triggers and functions. The quiet slippered steps through the library carried her back into the aisles as always Blot zipped moodily along behind her.
" I know.. it isn't my best idea.. but to undo what has been done, one must first know how it was accomplished to begin with. " She stated softly as she eyed the rows of books and selected one. The little frown touched her face as she carried the book back to the table. With this sort of reading however she made her way to the window and opened the curtains wide. She wanted lots of light.. when looking into the darkness. 5/8/11 Agnes had finally settled upon one author that seemed more knowledgable about the curses and how to develope them. The small hands rested to either side of the book while she read. The information was directly there as she began to fall into her studies. The cup of tea was near her hand as she slowly turned the page upon the book. There were a variety of such horrible spells that were affliated.
She had kept herself mostly away from such spells, more because of the damage they could wreck upon the soul. Or so she believed. However there were going to be prices ,as her aunt had warned her about. Sometimes they were something simple.. other times.. it was merely something a person had to pay for the knowledge. She had to get passed her own naive beliefs..
Well ask everyone.. they all told her so. She brushed back the curl of dark hair behind an ear as she continued to devour the information within the book itself. The right hand slowly moved off to collect her tea cup as she stole a small sip, before replacing it to the table. It was highly likely she would have to try and delve into the magic surrounding the book Malak had, in order to unweave the spell wrapped about it.
She would of course try the Remove Curse spell first, however it stated it worked on the person , not the item. It was there she would begin to try and develope the spell that would indeed break the spell around the book. Though she paused and looked up suddenly. What about a combination of spells? The sudden push out of the chair came as she moved back through the aisles of the library. She needed to look up the particulars of Knock again.
She tugged down the book and flipped to the page as she sighed after the reading of it progressed. No. .that wasn't what she was neeeding, but she kept the book in hand. It would break any arcane locks upon the spell, which may be useful as she considered other alternatives. She continued the aisle in though as she tugged another book free to check upon another spell. No, at this rate it would be something she created herself. Something.. home grown, so to speak.
5/9/11
The young lady was getting no where.. fairly quickly one might add. She sighed softly as she closed the book and pinched the bridge of her nose. " Alright..perhaps we are going about this all wrong, Blot. "She stated to the small orb of light. The hand dropped back down to the table that was by now litered with books. The sigh was given as she began to reach out for them and closing them one by one.
"All of these are designed to protect the person, not dissolve the spell itself. "She stated quietly as she began to stack the books to carry them back to their correct shelves. "There is really only one way to ensure the curse doesn't become something that he has to be treated for, time after time.. "She stated then stopped. The small roll of her eyes.
"I'm a idiot.. "She slapped herself in the forehead and continued with the task of putting away books. The small orb of light danced around her and flickered in its shades as if to ask. " Well if I can't undo the spell that has been placed upon it.. why not make him immuned to it that it does not effect him? "She lifted a brow. The light dimmed then blinked a little . " don't laugh.. yes it was simple but even the simple things can be over looked. "She poked the little orb as it flew backwards a little still blinking.
She laughed herself as she shook her head then braced her hands onto her hips. "Now then.. Spell immunity was... "She stood and looked down the aisle. " In Wards , Warnings and Protections.. "She stated pointing off down the way. She made her way down as she read over the titles quickly before tugging the book out and began to page through. " I know I saw it... "She whispered as she frowned a little... then with a delighted call " AH HA! There it is.. see.. I knew I would find it. "She proclaimed as she hurried back over to her table.
"Its right here.. ."The warded creature effectively has unbeatable spell resistance regarding the specified spell or spells. Spell immunity protects against spells, spell-like effects of magic items, and innate spell-like abilities of creatures. It does not protect against supernatural or extraordinary abilities, such as breath weapons or gaze attacks. Only a particular spell can be protected against, not a certain domain or school of spells or a group of spells that are similar in effect. " She read out of the book and set it down.
"Now all we have to do is isolate the exact spell that was used upon it.. which we can do with the Analyze Dweomer. Then simply ensure that Malak is immuned to the spell so that he is not cursed by the book! "She announced with a warm triumphant smile. The little orb danced around then went through the flicking of its light. She canted her head. " True.. but I'm sure if we back it with a permancy spell, he should not have an issue with that particular spell ever again. regardless how many times he uses the spellbook. "She pointed out and gave a firm nod. " Now all we have to do is get ahold of the book and divine what spell the lich used. "She stated with a sigh.
She closed the book and tucked it beneath her arm as she set off to go find the man who enjoyed his solitude, which meant going to his room in the Crescent Moon.
5/10/11 Agnes Clayborn: She peeked back inside and sighed softly, Thank the little Gods! She made her way back into the arena. The book was placed down on the bench as she slowly cleared her mind. She needed only a moment to just.. contemplate how exactly the spell would need to unfold. Until she had a chance to exam the book, she had to work on the spell another away. She slipped the backpack off her shoulder and sat it down onto the bench as well. It took her several minutes to unpack the brazer from within. She carefully carried with her out into the sand as she sat it down.
The young lady took a moment to smooth her skirts as she knelt down before it. The soft whisper of the words, repeating it within her head as she closed her eyes. The mental fingers withdrew the thread of energy from her core, as she began to twist it within with her will. When her eyes opened once more she released the spell , immunity to a spell, upon herself. The spell she had chosen was fire, as it seemed to be everyone favorite to throw about. {f} OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 40-sided die: 36 Agnes Clayborn: (Advanced)
Agnes Clayborn: She waited until the spell took effect as she removed the cap from the brazer. The extension was given as she called the element of fire to light the oil within the brazer. {f} OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 40-sided die: 25 Agnes Clayborn: ( Mediocre )
Agnes Clayborn: The deep breath was taken in as she watched the flames dance as she carefully rolled up the sleeve of her dress. She didn't need to burn her clothing, how embarrassing would that be? She stared nervously at the flames before her hand slowly moved toward it. As the flames licked up around her finger tips , it did not burn. She smiled softly as she could feel the heat however it did not damage the porcelain skin of her hand or forearm.
She gave a small nod as she carefully lifted the cap to the brazer and put the flames out once more. Excellent.. so the spell worked. Now it was merely a matter of getting a chance to look at the book and investigating the actual spell that bound it. {f} 5/14/11
artisic rambling: -He would head over to the sands with her.- Agnes Clayborn: She drew in a deep breath. " what I am working on is spell immunity, to help Malak be able to use the spellbook he has..there is a curse upon it. "She explained softly. " I can't get rid of the curse itself..but I may be able to ensure the curse has no effect upon him.. and that he doesn't have to have the curse removed everytime he opens the book. "She drew in a breath. "I've tried with fire.. and it worked..but well.. I need someone to use an actual spell against me once I have cast the immunity to ensure that I am properly setting the intonation of the spell. " {f}
artisic rambling: I'll start small with some sparks so I don't end up hurting you.
Agnes Clayborn: She gave a little nod. " Give me a moment to cast the spell. "She stated softly as she looked nervous. Well look what the last spell did to her! She took in a deep breath and carefully released it as she closed her eyes. Focus.. she absolutely needed focus right now. She drew upon that core of hers as she whispered the ajoining words for the spell. She carefully coiled the spell around herself. {f} OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 40-sided die: 33 Agnes Clayborn: ( Advanced )
Agnes Clayborn: She opened her eyes and looked at Misha. " Ok.. "She shifted and waited as she didn't put up any other wards other then the fire immunity. {f}
A Dark Orb: ::the drow came wandering in with a soft yawn, glancing around to see who was there, plopping down on the bleachers::
artisic rambling: Very good. -He smiled as he would then start sending sparks to Agnes.-
Agnes Clayborn: She watched as the sparks came toward her.. though they fizzled out before actually reaching her. The small nod was given. " try an actual fireball. "She instructed. " Its ok Misha..worst that will happen is I'll be a bald ten year old. "She allowed a faint smile.. of course her clothing swam on that tiny little framed girl. {f}
A Dark Orb: ::He'd quirk a brow...Chibi Agnes? Oh dear god.:: Agnes, did you finally get with Yuriko? She was supposed to train you today.
Agnes Clayborn: "Yes..I'm supposed to take my test today.. "she sighed softly and glanced to Agrylax. " not a word"She pointed a tiny little finger out of sleeve at him {f}
A Dark Orb: Yes, oh tiny cute one. Not a word. OnlineHost: artisic rambling rolled 1 30-sided die: 3 Agnes Clayborn: ( Miss)
Agnes Clayborn: "Try again. "She encouraged him and dropped her hands to her sides. {f}
artisic rambling: -He would then try again with the sparks.- OnlineHost: artisic rambling rolled 1 30-sided die: 20 Agnes Clayborn: ( medicore. )
Agnes Clayborn: The sparks flew toward her again they seemed to pass by or fizzled out as she gave a small smile. " Something larger. "She grinned, it was working!! {f}
artisic rambling: -He would then go for the bigger sparks.- OnlineHost: artisic rambling rolled 1 30-sided die: 23
A Dark Orb: ::He'd glance over to her and huffed, holding up his hand:: Shadow Evocation: Fireball! ::Let's see if he could get just one sent after her. Not like he could blow her up in here. And with his luck the spell wouldn't fire at all:: OnlineHost: A Dark Orb rolled 1 45-sided die: 18
Agnes Clayborn: She concentrated on holding the spell in place as the smaller fireballs..sparks..whichever name one calls it came toward her. Of course one wanted to flinch away, but well she couldn't find the weakness in the spell itself as they Agnes Clayborn: pelted her. {f}
Agnes Clayborn: Medicore for both ))
Agnes Clayborn: She hadn't seen Agrylax' until it plowed into the side of her.. while the flames wrapped around her and there was heat..they simply didn't burn her. She winced and threw the little bitty arms over her head. " Ok ok ok ok! It works! Stop! " that high pitched voice rang out. {f}
A Dark Orb: ::He'd chuckle:: Well, it works all right. Just keep in mind...that it won't protect you against other fire spells. So burning hands can still ruin your day. ::Winks to Agnes::
Agnes Clayborn: The waved her arms a bit and well tripped over the excess dress around her feet and ended up on her bottom.... again. " I know.. "she sighed softly. " but..if I can narrow down the exact spell used for the curse on Malak's book.. I can create a charm for him to wear that the curse will not effect him. "she offered with what she thouht was a brillant idea so..she smiled! {f}
A Dark Orb: You do realize...cursed items don't allow spell resistance..yes? ::He'd hold up his leather covered hand::
Agnes Clayborn: " which is why I'm targeting the spell itself.. not the item "She pointed out {f}
A Dark Orb: Take it from a person that has it in spades. Remids me, I need to get this thing cut off. Agnes Clayborn: ( ok log off.. )

((Animated Text )) 5/17/11 The small sigh came from her as she looked around her dorm room with an arched brow. The sheer number of books was a bit overwhelming, well for some. However she had replaced a good bit of the furniture with shelves.. and of course the piano. She glanced to the piano as resting acrossed the top was the short sword she had found left behind from the drow attack.
She walked over and lifted it though she had no knowledge of how to weild it other then swinging it like a board. She shrugged and looked back over the books. The small smile touched her face.. what if? She set the blade down and moved over toward the small desk that was partically hidden.
The idea behind it would be simple really.. a minor illusion spell , coupled with that of a legend lore.. something to bring the characters from the books themselves. She wiggled a little in her chair when she withdrew the parchment from a drawer. There were of course a few details to work out..such as the combining of both spells.
The intention of the spell was carefully written out as she drew in a deep breath as she made a list of pros and cons to such a spell. The draw back was going to be the fact of the unknown information , how it was going to be portrayed as well as if the contents of the book were unknown.. how would the spell react?
This would however need more details of the spells she wanted to work on as she sighed and looked acrossed the room. There weren't any books here on illusions.. so it would require a trip down to the library. Or well her second home. The parchment was slipped into her book as she tucked the pen into the bound knot of hair behind her head.
The young lady rose and collected her back before heading out of the dorm. The steps were silent as usual , if one disguarded the quiet whisper of the skirts as they brushed against the floor. She offered the small shy smiles to the staff as she passed until reaching the door that lead into the vast chambers of the library. It never failed to cause her to catch her breath when looking at the numerous volumes all begging to be read.
However she would delve back into the light reading later, for now she was there with a purpose in mind. The eyes closed as she waited a moment for the odd bobble of light to appear over her shoulder. " Hello Blot.. are you ready? "She asked as she stepped beyond the threshold and moved down the aisles. " We need books on illusions first... "She stated as the light danced around her shoulders then swirled up higher into the air before darting off in a direction. The soft giggle of laughter came from her as she followed along behind it

Agnes sat within the halls of the library, the dark brown eyes absorbing the words and information as she attempted to combine the two spells. The small tilt of her head was given as she glanced from one to the other, the comparisons in their preparations, the mental state in which one had to be in, in order to draw the spell out correctly. She looked down a moment as she went over her own notes.
The penmanship was tidy and neat, as she paused to reflect exactly what it was that she wash wising to create. While there had been several that offered to teach her how to fight, all of which had become busy.. and Agnes did not wish to become a pest or a nussiance to anyone. So.. much like everything else in her life she set forth to take care of this herself.
The small legs shifted and the foot tucked beneath her as she leaned a bit more onto the table. The slouching position was slowly taking over as she sank further into the complexities of her studies. The small orb hovered over her shoulder remained close, yet when she reached out the bobble of light moved quickly to ensure the cup of tea was ever present and ready in hand. Blot returned back to her shoulder as soon as her fingers touched the porcelian of the teacup.
The little mageling never really noticed as she took a sip of the tea. However there were many times the odd little light did things that Agnes never really noticed. The books were carefully cleared away , except the two she worked with currently. And her own spellbook as well, of course. The young lady never really concerned herself with how or why.. it was always taken care of. The source of the light within the room continued to hang over her shoulder for now.. However it seemed just as fascinated in what she wrote down and studied as the young lady herself.
5/20/11 OnlineHost: *** You are in "Arts and Entertainment - OCS Magi Arena". *** OnlineHost: See what's hot on AIM! Agnes Clayborn: The young lady made her way into the arena, the backpack slung over her shoulder as she glanced around a moment before making her way over to set the pack down. She took out two books as well as her pen. The young mageling sat the rest to the side. The small hand dusted off the robes as she made her way out into the sand. The dark hair was pinned back , as her usual gray dress was worn beneath the blue robes. She had come to a decision of not letting it get to her. The young lady settled down into the sand, the two books set before her. She had purchased a book from the market. Nothing she had read before which was exactly what she was looking for.
The spell she was working Agnes Clayborn: on may seem a bit off skelter from her usual forte, but only partically. The spell itself was to illistrate the story or information within the book. if the spell worked correctly it would cause images of the book to rise up and Agnes Clayborn: be projected around the caster. She was also hoping , if all went according to plan, that any character within the book.. factual or fiction would be able to converse with the weilder. Making finding information that much quicker.
The small hand writting from the inkpen. With the small note of the books title she shifted back and stared at the book itself. The focus was upon the intent of the spell itself. The hand lifted to rest upon the binding of the old leather bound book. {f} OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 40-sided die: 8 Agnes Clayborn: ( miss ) Agnes Clayborn: She waited and looked around, as if something would suddenly appear? She was tempted to peek into the book to at least see what it was that she had picked up. But. that would ruin the experiement comletely. The deep breath was taken in when nothing at all happened, she lifted her book into her lap and began to record the information that the failure had given her. There was now one way she knew wouldn't work. {f{ Agnes Clayborn: The tuck of a wayward curl behind her ear as she shifted a little and once more adjusting the intention of the spell. Well not entirely more she began to focus her spell another way. The fingers brushed along the spine of the book Agnes Clayborn: as if the finger tips themselves would ignite the spell into working . {f} OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 40-sided die: 14 Agnes Clayborn: ( Miss ) Agnes Clayborn: Again she waited to see what would happen, if anything at all as the area around her for a moment only dimmed but nothing else occurred. She withdrew her hand to add a few more notes. The posibility that her thoughts for the spell were..too large. Instead of casting it around her.. perhaps she should try for a smaller stage? The small nod was given as she lifted a hand to lay atop of the book once more. {f} OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 40-sided die: 5 Agnes Clayborn: ( Miss.) The young lady sighed softly as she noticed the soft droplet of blood upon the page of her book as she sighed softly. " Alright..alright.. enough with it today. "She spoke softly to herself as she used the kerchief from her sleeve to wipe at the blood..then to hold it to her nose. However as with before.she now knew three ways that did not work. And back to the drawing board she'd go. {f}
5/21/11
Agnes Clayborn: She drew in a breath and looked back to the book in her hands as she pondered attempting the spell again. She hadn't done so well before.. though she believed she had worked out the reasons why. What was the worst thing that could Agnes Clayborn: happen..another bloody nose? The slow steps carried her a little further into the sand as she set the book down onto the sand carefully. The hand lightly dusted off the top as she took a step back. The soft sigh passed her lips as she closed her eyes. The thread of silver was drawn from the young lady's core as she set the directions of the spell firmly within her mind. Her eyes slowly reopened as she applied the energy to the thoughts of what she wished done. {f} OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 40-sided die: 38 Agnes Clayborn: ( advanced ) Agnes Clayborn: The book snapped open as the pages fluttered from the front to the back in a fury of movement.. before the area around the young lady shifted. The sounds of the crashing waves circled around her. Any there about could hear and see as the story within the book began to play out around her. The ship came into view , as it was hurled from one vast wave to the next.. the imagery shifted to the ships decks.. the crew moved around her as if she were not there at all while the calls of the brutish captain stood walking on the slippery decks. Agnes couldn't contain the smile as it appeared. She turned slowly looking around her at the illusion cast that illuminated the area around her. Agnes Clayborn: {f}
Agnes Clayborn: She slowly circled around as she walked through the images of the men and ship itself as she folded her hands.. the small hand lifted to half cover her smile as she watched the story unfold. Well.. as people sometimes said.. that Kyle Greyeson: ::Scampers in:: Don't worry, Agnes! Your assistant has arrived! Agnes Clayborn: experiences had to be found.. outside the books. She didn't pay any attention as her concentration remained fixed upon the book and the spell she had enacted. {f{
Agnes Clayborn: She had gotten the spell to function in the manner she had hoped. She stepped through the illusion once more and crouched down to close the book.. effectively ending the spell. Once the cover of the book was closed the area around her returned to normal as she laughed softly and sighed. {f}
5/22/11
Agnes Clayborn: Agnes peeked in and sighed softly, part of her was grateful there was no one about as she stepped into the arena. The new book in her hands as she carried her pack over her shoulder. The pack was slipped down and set to the side as she glanced to the book again and bit her lip.
The beginners of swordwork. She carefully removed the drow short sword from the pack. She was extremely careful with the blade as she took up the book and walked out into the sand There was of course a reason why she had decided upon the animating text spell. Sometimes the words were difficult to understand, when they described a movement. So.. in an odd way..this was a way for her to learn without having to bother anyone else.
Agnes Clayborn: She set the sword down and drew in a deep breath. The tendril of energy was drawn out from her core as she cast the spell to animate the text within the book. {f} OnlineHost: Agnes Clayborn rolled 1 45-sided die: 36
AltiusAspiration: 5 count)
Agnes Clayborn: She drew in a deep breath as she watched as the area around her shifted to a salle. She carefully stood up as the instructor was a squat round man ... his clothing was made of leathers as she pushed herself up to pick up the sword as well. The small lady stood listening while the information was being dictated.
The movements of the man were carefully copied as she shifted her place and watched him. The sword was held in her two small hands as she mocked him in the beginning strikes. The step forward lunge as the worst really as she extended her arms. The young lady was getting tired fairly quickly as she had to skip around a little to watch the movements. The continuing telling of the text was at times hard to catch back up to.
Agnes Clayborn: However after nearly an hour.. she was exhausted and her arms and shoulders protested violently to her moving them , let alone picking up the short sword again she slipped a foot out and closed the book. The dark hair was damp with sweat as she drew the kerchief from her pocket to wipe off her brow. Holy Crap that was going to be harder then she thought.. stupid warriors for making it look easy!
