of stormy skies: (( Moon Rats - Mission - Particpants state name, rank,
dice, hp for the record. ))
of stormy skies: Melyn Marshal Misty Storm [ 2d56 / Diehard +5 = 33 HP / SC
]
Tidal Reign: [ Mel'yn Marshal Zachary Collins of the Scar Guild ( 2d56 ) ] [
Skill: Diehard / +5 hp = Total 33 HP ]
of stormy skies: [ GM ] It was going on towards evening and the Carmathyn
marketplace was, while still busy, starting to dwindle down enough that one
could casually walk down the streets and easily see the
of stormy skies: wares each stall had. It was the perfect place to buy
anything from groceries to defense and weapons, the list could go on. There
is all manner of person, style, and shop. Warrior and bard alike walked
of stormy skies: the streets, or pitched their services. [ Begin RP ]
of stormy skies: Misty had wanted to come to the marketplace to see what
kind of gear she could get to take on the next adventure, but in particular
defense. Big Al of course was hot on her heels cause if anyone needed defense
it was the bodyguard.-
of stormy skies: of course he stayed at their flank, since she had asked
Zach to come with her of course and so they were strolling the streets hand
in hand, looking around at all the stuff. "Are you gonna shop too?" She asked
water boy.
Tidal Reign: "Maybe. I'll look around to see if anything catches my
interest." Otherwise, just a stroll through the marketplace hand in hand with
Misty was good enough on its own. Occasionally he'd peek over his shoulder at
Big Al since for some
Tidal Reign: reason he had a feeling that the satyr was positively glowering
at him behind his back. Not that he would let it bother him, of course. It
was just so he could give the goat a smug look. There was absolutely nothing
wrong with
Tidal Reign: taking a walk with his fiancee. "Maybe if we find the right
booth, we can sell the goat." He leaned over to whisper into Misty's ear
before chuckling at the idea.
of stormy skies: "Yo, I heard that man, not cool! Not cool at all! Mist how
you put up with this guy?!" Big Al had just been hanging out, looking around,
you know just minding his own business till he caught that look from Zach and
then he did
of stormy skies: glower at him. "The same way, I put up with you Al." She
chuckled at Zach's suggestion, thinking that would probably garner a lot of
local attention. A goat who can dance, and talk his way out of about
anything! He'd be famous! She
of stormy skies: was generally having a pretty good time walking around and
for once not having something beheaded in front of her.
Tidal Reign: "What? I just figured that with 3 kids to feed, it's gonna be
pretty expensive. If we can get some change for you, it could be your way of
helping out." He laughed again. Zach was only joking of course, but it was
fun to tease the
Tidal Reign: satyr. "If not, then I suppose I could be convinced to let you
babysit. It would be your honor!" He grinned over to Misty before returning
his gaze up ahead. "Man, there are a lot of booths here. I bet you can find
something you
Tidal Reign: like."
of stormy skies: [ GM ] While the group continued their trip through the
marketplace, they come to a less populated business section which at first
glance may seem a bit the seedier part of town. The
of stormy skies: environment made one want to hold onto their coinpurses a
little tighter, looking at some of the more grisly merchants hawking their
wares. As they pass one of the out of the way alleys, the sound of a quartet
of stormy skies: singing could be heard not too far off; and if one looked
they might be able to spot a set of figures no taller than three feet high. [
Begin RP ]
of stormy skies: Another set of chuckles was heard, listening to the two
banter back and forth. "Man knowing him he'd feed the three O's styrofoam and
aluminum." Then Big Al looked at Misty with a hurt expression. "Ya'll suck,
you know that right?"
of stormy skies: Big Al sulked from then on. Misty glanced up at Zach and
nodded in agreement with his comment. "I'm hoping to. Seems like every--
hey.. you hear something?" She looked around when she heard the singing
voices. [d]
Tidal Reign: Zach had to snort at what Misty said about Big Al feeding the
three O's styrofoam and aluminum. "That can't be good for their teeth. I
think they'd rather have goat." Another snort, then he looked around when
Misty mentioned hearing
Tidal Reign: something. "Huh? Oh wait, I think I do. Someone's singing, I
think."
of stormy skies: "Who'd be singing in a marketplace? That's stupid." But she
had to grin at the reply, and a half baaah, half snort could be heard behind
them. That only made her laugh harder. By this time she had stopped to
continue the
of stormy skies: conversation with them but Big Al stalked off toward the
alley which the singing was coming from. "These guys GOTTA be more
entertaining than you two foo's." He snorted insultedly before baahing in
shock. "RATS!! They're singin'man!
of stormy skies: " Misty glanced over her shoulder where Big Al had gone and
then back at Zach. "Huh? Should we go see what he's yelling about?"
of stormy skies: [d]
Tidal Reign: "Maybe they're looking to get discovered or something. You
know, the road to fame gotta start somewhere." He grinned and watched as Big
Al stalked off. Zach had no problem moving on without the satyr, but then he
was yelling about
Tidal Reign: something. "Did he say rats?" Was the goat high on something?
He shrugged to Misty's question. "We might as well. Before he embarrasses
himself, and us." He started heading in that direction, pulling her along
with him.
of stormy skies: [ GM ] Once they had all congregated in the alley where the
singing quartet was belting out their tunes, Big Al was pointing toward a
particular corner with several barrels and other refuse
of stormy skies: strewn haphazardly around the ground. What they would see
is five three and a half foot tall rats, with a sentient look in their eyes
as they noticed the group. The one balancing on the barrel top raised
of stormy skies: it's paw holding a piece of sheet music and began his song
anew, "Here, here my wayward friends! Listen to the plight of Black Moon's
End! Then he jumped down, another rat taking his place,
of stormy skies: continuing the song with the second verse, "Poisoned waters
cold and clear, took away what we held dear.. he jumped down and a third took
his place on the barrel, A curse, a spell, we cannot
of stormy skies: break until purified water we do take.. the fourth rat took
his place, Will someone come and heed our plight, when the moon is full, when
the moon is bright? and the last rat took the barrel
of stormy skies: stage, finishing out their song. Help us to return again,
away from rats and back to men?! The group was able to understand the
language of the rats perfectly, and the first rat took his
of stormy skies: original spot. The evening was wearing down and the moon
above creeping up, revealing a full moon. Would they dare travel to Black
Moon's End pond to retrieve the purified water? [ Begin RP ]
Tidal Reign: "....Well now I've seen everything." Then again, why should he
be so surprised? He talked to marine animals all the time. Singing is almost
the same thing. He made a note to ask Toby when he got home. "So uh..." Yeah,
he still
Tidal Reign: wasn't sure what to make of the whole situation.
of stormy skies: Misty just kinda blinked as she listened to the rat's song,
and Zach echoed her thoughts completely. "Oh my gosh.. we should take them to
your zoo Zach, they'd be a hit at the Eyrie!" Big Al was too busy laughing
and pointing at the
of stormy skies: rats who were now getting a little angry at being laughed
at, and were squeaking and bouncing up and down!
Tidal Reign: "Maybe I can teach them to surf and ride on Toby!" He doubled
over a little and chuckled. When he saw their reaction to Big Al, he patted
the satyr on the shoulder. "Careful, buddy. They look like they can beat you
up." He smirked
Tidal Reign: before stepping forward to take a closer peek at the rats.
of stormy skies: [ GM ] In a still sing-songy voice the center rat clamored,
thoroughly insulted by their lack of compassion to their situation. "This is
serious! The thought makes me bilous! You must help us
of stormy skies: tonight, when the full moon's bright! The antidote's in the
water! But watch out for the boatmaster's daughter!" Apparently part of the
curse was not just being a rat but forced to sing in rhyme as
of stormy skies: well! "Down this road you will take, please please make all
haste!" Then they all started singing backup 'make all haste, make all
haste!' [ Free RP ]
of stormy skies: "Okay okay okay, don't get your tails in a knot. So we just
have to get some water from this pond down the road here? Fine." Misty didn't
mind a little detour in her shopping plus, Big Al was being obnoxious. She
cuffed him upside
of stormy skies: the head and then glanced at Zach. You got a waterskin on
you right? I have one too, that should be enough for all of them I hope." She
was checking her gear just to make sure it was there, and of course; it was.
of stormy skies: [d]
Tidal Reign: "Silly rats. So what's this about the boatmaster's daughter?"
He checked over his own gear to make sure that he had a waterskin, then
nodded to Misty. "Yep. I have one. So, why are we doing this again?" He
thought she had wanted to
Tidal Reign: go shopping, and he didn't see how these rats concerned her
anyway. He didn't mind, but he was just curious.
of stormy skies: "Call me nosey.. I wanna see what'll happen." Misty grinned
a little, since they said moonlight would purify the water they needed. Would
they turn back to normal? "I dunno, but maybe she did this to them?"
Hopefully they would just
of stormy skies: get the water and go, then be on their way shopping. Her
shopping trips always seemed to end up like this! "So, let's get this over
with. They're not that great of singers, are they?" Maybe helping out will
shut them up too!
Tidal Reign: "I dunno, I didn't think they were that bad. Their rhymes are
pretty funny actually. They have more talent than the goat over there." He
snickered. After shifting his pack over his shoulder he was ready to go. He
looked over to the
Tidal Reign: rats and pointed to a can that was filled with coins. "I'm not
doing this for free though, so once you turn back to normal we'll be taking
those as payment. I'm sure you won't object." He grinned and turned, ready to
set off now.
of stormy skies: "I got yo number, kingy you and me anytime?!" Big Al was
hopping from hoof to hoof now, getting about ready to go after water boy.
He'd already been cuffed on the head and insulted today. "Cool it or I'll Zap
you silly." She glared
of stormy skies: at Big Al for a moment, then glanced between Zach and the
rats. "Yeah, we gotta be compensated for going out of our way." Zach was a
genius.. of course she wasn't gonna say that out loud and feed that already
planet-sized ego of his
of stormy skies: .
of stormy skies: [ GM ]All the rats started squeaking happily and bounced up
and down,' sure, sure, they're yours yours!' Though they couldn't stop the
endless loop that was their song pleaing for help and
of stormy skies: began it anew as the group started their trek down the
alley into the road they'd directed them to. It would be what appeared a long
winding road out of town but really it wasn't that long at all. The
of stormy skies: buildings on either side soon gave way to trees and high
brush until they came to a clearing near the crossroads. To any traveler
passing by from a long journey the black watered pond would be an oasis,
of stormy skies: it was large and clear as the rats had said. A quaint place
that seemed harmless. As they approached, the moon would fade from the
reflection leaving an eerie mist behind. [ Begin RP ]
Tidal Reign: "Pft. What you need my number for? I'm standing here right in
front of you. If you wanna risk getting zapped that bad, then go ahead." He
smirked before heading down the path that the rats had directed them towards.
Of course he was
Tidal Reign: a genius. By collecting payment they'll have more gold to go
shopping with. Still holding Misty's hand, they walked until the buildings
faded from sight and they came across a clearing. He eyed the pond for a
moment, finding it odd
Tidal Reign: that the moon's reflection would fade. He didn't have a good
feeling about this. "Mist, of course. This is like a scene straight out of a
typical scary movie."
of stormy skies: Big Al was so gonna get him one day, but for now Misty was
the scarier of the two so he just grumbled and pushed him forward. "Just move
yo butt, water boy." He was not happy about this at all, not one bit.
Especially as the three
of stormy skies: approached the pond. He hated to admit when Zach was right
but this was straight outta some cheap movie! Misty glanced around, wondering
if the moon really had purified the water since it faded. "Eh, it's just
fog." Unpacking the
of stormy skies: waterskin she moved forward toward the pond's edge.
Tidal Reign: The only reason why Zach enjoyed teasing Big Al so much was
because he made it so easy. Chuckling at the lame comeback he'd watch as
Misty moved towards the edge of the water. Reacting on instinct, he'd pull
her back. "Wait. You
Tidal Reign: don't know what's in there. And you know something always pops
out in one of those movies." He looked over to Big Al and tossed him the
waterskin. "Okay Mr. Protector. You go first." He didn't think the satyr
would complain much. It
Tidal Reign: was his job to protect Misty after all.
of stormy skies: Big Al caught the waterskin when it was tossed to him, and
gave him a disdainful look. "Ain't you a protector too, kingy?" He was the
king of kobolds but Big Al was the king of lame comebacks. So he did what he
was told, but not for
of stormy skies: Zach's benefit. Misty made a face at him a moment. "It's
not a movie." She had stepped forward but not enough to actually do the job.
Big Al was now approaching.
of stormy skies: [ GM ]"No traveler shall be trusted!" A female voice rang
out clear and vengeful from the middle of the pond when Misty, then Big Al
tried to approach and suddenly a huge force of wind
of stormy skies: propelled them all back several feet. Then the shadowy
figure of a woman appeared hovering over the lake. "Leave now or die like the
rats you are.." The voice warned. [ d ]
Tidal Reign: "When I want to be, but since I'm King I get to order people
around." It was just the Kobolds, really, but still! It was something. When
Misty made a face at him he simply shrugged. "I'd rather not risk your safety
or the
Tidal Reign: three O's. Big Al can handle it." In other words, better to
sacrifice Big Al in case there was something in the waters. And of course, he
was right! He wasn't too happy about being pushed back by the wind. When he
looked up again he
Tidal Reign: spotted the shadowy figure. "Who the hell are you? And what's
so special about the lake that you won't let people approach?"
of stormy skies: [ GM ] The wind subsided only a little, swirling the mists
about leaving an anxious feel in the air as the female figure turned vengeful
gaze toward the one who'd spoken. "I am Lunalia, the
of stormy skies: boatkeeper's daughter who was charged with protecting this
dwelling. I will avenge my father's death! No more will anyone else die to
traveling scum like you. You! who took advantage of our pure waters,
of stormy skies: and poisoned it with greed and murder. You who tainted this
water will suffer by this water!" The female lifted her hands to aim another
gust at them to try and deter them from coming any closer. [
of stormy skies: Begin RP ]
of stormy skies: "Man how're we gonna prove we're not greedy, killing
travelers?" Misty was buffeted by the wind and lifted her shield to cut off
some of the blow, glancing over at Zach for some kinda clue. Big Al was in
the mean time hopping mad
of stormy skies: that he'd been punted by some water witch. "Yo lady! We
don't wanna hurt nobody! Yo' hurtin' us by all that fancy wind jazz. All we
want'sa a sip to drink, dig it?" Somehow Misty didn't think that was gonna
help, but it seemed the
of stormy skies: witch was focused on Zach. Maybe cause he was a water boy.
of stormy skies: [d]
Tidal Reign: Unfortunately for Lunalia, the water was Zach's domain. "Hold
up. So you're the boatkeeper's daughter? How did your father die? I'm pretty
sure his death had nothing to do with us. So why don't you just chill. I
admit, we're here
Tidal Reign: for the pure water, but it's not even for ourselves. We need it
to help someone. Well, a few someones. And if anyone knows water, it's me,
and I have no personal interest in it." Hearing Big Al, he frowned. "Oh, and
just ignore the
Tidal Reign: goat. He's not too intelligent. I think his mother dropped him
on his head when he was little." He shrugged.
of stormy skies: [ GM ] Lunalia's vengeful visage flickered for a moment, as
she tried to remember.. it had been so long ago, no one had ever even
bothered to ask how he had died. They simply tried to get to
of stormy skies: her water's without regard to why or what happened here.
"You travelers are all the same, criminals, murderers.. thieves. He was..
killed for his perceived riches as a boatmaster. This place used to be
of stormy skies: much larger, grander.. a romantic place for rides at
sunset. But all that changed when you people showed up with nothing but blood
on your hands! You spilled my father's blood and it seeped into the
of stormy skies: waters when you ambushed him when the moon was gone. It was
gone.. all gone." For a moment, the woman who had been a formidable vengeful
spirit turned into one of weeping, finally remembering the whole
of stormy skies: story. "The full moon is the only time the waters are this
clear, just like before he was murdered.. it is beautiful. How can traveler's
help anyone except to their demise?!" Suddenly vengeful spirit
of stormy skies: had returned, demanding an answer! [ Begin RP ]
of stormy skies: Misty was listening to the woman's story and wrinkled her
nose, talk about discrimination! Big Al was suddenly overcome with compassion
for the woman he was dissing moments before and wiped his eye. "We ain't all
bad, lady. We don'
of stormy skies: wanna hurt nobody. These dudes just need some help yanno?
Like yo daddy needed." Sometimes Big Al said good things too! Misty
immediately caught on. "Yeah, we're nothing like those guys, we're trying to
keep someone from getting
of stormy skies: killed." So it was a stretch, sue her.
of stormy skies: [d]
of stormy skies: [ sorry about the color lol ]
Tidal Reign: [ no worries lol ]
Tidal Reign: Zach listened to her story, and sighed when Big Al tried to
butt in again. Really? He had to go ahead and remind her that nobody was
around to help her daddy when he was ambushed? "No, I'm afraid we're not all
the same, and just as
Tidal Reign: we know nothing about you or your father's plight, you can't
just go assuming that everyone is after the same thing. Do you think you are
honoring your father's memory by doing what you're doing? I'm sure he took
pride in his work
Tidal Reign: as a boatmaster, and he would want people to see the beauty of
the lake. It is unfortunate what happened to him, but measurements can be
taken to assure that nothing like that ever happens again. Maybe you can pick
up where your
Tidal Reign: father had left off, hire a couple of guards to help out, and
let this place be remembered as the beautiful lake that your father knew, and
not a place haunted by the boatmaster's daughter. Do you really want people
to remember him
Tidal Reign: that way?"
of stormy skies: Misty listened to Zach take over the diplomatic affair and
blinked thinking for a minute maybe Kingy was a good title after all. She was
gonna leave this sort of thing to him since she and Big Al both failed at
diplomacy! Thankfully
of stormy skies: Lunalia didn't seem to care about them; maybe she was
vengeful toward men in particular and women and satyrs were not even a threat
to her. She was curious about it all, but in the end just nodded agreeing
with water boy.
of stormy skies: [ GM ] Lunalia had begun to step forward, ready with
another wind gust should their answer to her question not be favorable. The
mists about her swirled chaotically as the man's words confused
of stormy skies: her and her mind swirled like the fog around her. "What
measures can be taken, I already haunt this place mourning his unfortunate
murder, leaving me to rot away in this pond. But.. maybe if I can
of stormy skies: find someone who isn't scared to guard this place I can
protect it better. I.." She waivered again sadly. "I want him to be
remembered and loved as I loved him.. not as a victim." The hands that
extended
of stormy skies: to gust them, turned to cover her face in a moment of
weeping. "If you promise to bring me guards, I will let you have the water
you desire." Lunalia resigned herself to this decision with a mournful
of stormy skies: sigh. [ Begin RP ]
of stormy skies: Misty grinned as the seeming threat of the woman trying to
kill them had passed. She looked at Zach and offered. "I bet I know about
five guys who'd love that job, don't you?" She chuckled slightly at the idea,
and how ironic it
of stormy skies: would be.
Tidal Reign: "That's right. We have the perfect candidates in mind. You
shall have your guards." He grinned over to Misty and nodded, completely
agreeing with her. "So, what are the chances that you'd want this goat here
too? I mean, he's not
Tidal Reign: too bright, easily distracted, kinda ugly, but I'm sure he's
good for something. Maybe." Zach tried to keep a straight face as he said all
this. Since she had agreed to let them have the water, he moved over to take
the waterskin
Tidal Reign: from Big Al, then moved to the edge of the lake and began to
fill it.
of stormy skies: Big Al baahed angrily at what Zach had said about him! He
wasn't at all like that, plus he had been helping out trying to get the lady
to lighten up a bit right? "Yo kobold king, jump in that lake while you at it
son." He stamped
of stormy skies: his hoof and stalked off toward Misty, who gave him a flat
look before taking her waterskin and approaching as well to fill it up.
of stormy skies: [ GM ] The woman turned toward the satyr with a considering
expression and then shook her head, a momentary smile crossing her shadowy
features. "But the beast is good entertainment, you would
of stormy skies: miss him too much I am sure. Thank you, and I will be
looking for the guards soon..." Her tone leaving an unspoken threat of 'or
else.' Once the purified water had been filled to their liking Lunalia
of stormy skies: bade them farewell, leaving the sad mist to linger after
her. The group would now head back to the unfortunate singing rat troupe and
offered them the water. Not only were the five men restored from
of stormy skies: their suffering, but given a permanent job guarding the
Black Moon's End from the wayward travelers with nefarious ideas in mind. And
our group finally got on with shopping after being paid for their
of stormy skies: services. The End. [d]
