Ginger Complex: [ Rosha Mission - The Snake Oil Incident - 5:39 PM CST
6-25-2011 ]
Ginger Complex: [ GM ]
Ginger Complex: --The town was a quiet place, one of those places that Miora
had been through at her travels had taken her....this one in paticular had
been quiet and kind of dull, but there had been a nice tranqulity about this
place. It was some
Ginger Complex: where you could rest, somewhere you could go around and
forget about yourself....but that wasn't the point Upon here she was allowed
herself a nice room and a nice bed, a fire too read and relaxation at the
local Inn It was late
Ginger Complex: within the nightt here when there came a rapping upon the
door -[d]
Bellus Toxicum: - As ever, Moira was a light sleeper, she started awake when
the knock sounded upon her door. Her fingers instinctively curled about the
dagger beneath her pillow and she eased silently toward the door with the
blade in hand. She
Bellus Toxicum: opened the door a crack, peering out with a calm, but steely
expression. "I'm paid through the morning. What do you want?" She questioned
in a quiet, but firm tone. -
Ginger Complex: [NPC] -The one at the door was the local Innkeeper, older
and settled in his ways, he looked towards the door as he waited, insistantly
knocking upon the door and frowning In his night clothes, the older man [
in 50s'] had a
Ginger Complex: lantern in his hand and looked at her.- "Oh
Goodness...I...I hate to be so rude, but please help me!" -He begged now as
he frowned, she seemed strong[ he had seen her with the dagger earlier] and
how she moved.- "You must be---a
Ginger Complex: hero...I....we need one so desperately....Tell me, do you
know about poisons?"-[d]
Bellus Toxicum: - That could be a question of entrapment, but the man seemed
in desperation, and so she answered quietly. "Every cure comes from a poison.
I know something of them. What is the trouble?" She asked as she allowed the
door to open
Bellus Toxicum: fully. She was already fully dressed, having gone to bed
that way. She didn't undress in strange inns or on the road, it was an
invitation for trouble. A bit rumpled she might be, but she was ready for
anything that way. -
Ginger Complex: --He nodded his head a little bit, wobbled his head-
"..Its...its not even here, but the next town over..there..." -He sighed a
little bit now as he would rumble his hands together and looked at her as he
stepped within.- "My apo
Ginger Complex: logies you just look like you know what your doing....the
next town over, we sent a shipment of the infamous "CURE ALL MEDICINE"
and.well the shipment is gone! I don't know what too do....My sister and her
husband live in there and
Ginger Complex: the entire place is stricken by the Snake OIL dIsease...it
causes huge welts to form on your eyes and you blood from all orifces...the
cure works but damnit!" -He sat the lantern down and wrung hands together in
frustuation-[d]
Bellus Toxicum: - A 'cure all medicine' was always too good to be true, she
knew that from experience, but if this potion could cure the disease that had
struck the next town, she knew it would be vital for it to get there. Her
blank expression
Bellus Toxicum: softened with the faintest smile. "Calm yourself, Innkeep. I
will do what I can. What direction is the town, and who was in charge of
getting the shipment there? If I can find them, I might be able to find your
cure." She assured,
Bellus Toxicum: taking a step back into the room to gather her meager
belongings, a simple pack that she slung over her shoulder. -
Ginger Complex: --The woman seemed cold, but he figured deep inside she had
a good heart.- "I....the town is not far from here, the only problem is from
here is the wretched Sino Valley, its home to some bandits..." -He nodded
his head and trail
Ginger Complex: ed off until she mentioned something about the town and whom
it was.- "Our local Curator Barney, he is a short balding man of about his
40s---he s a good fellow and helped invent the cure! its due north from
here, the town but
Ginger Complex: be careful of the disease....wear a cover over your eyes and
mouth I...Thank you, I have a horse I can provide for transport.. " -He
smiled and nodded, as he stepped back and turned around and motioned for her
to follow him downs
Ginger Complex: stairs-[d]
Bellus Toxicum: - "I've my own horse." She said, as she followed him down
the stairs, absorbing the information he'd given her. She smiled slightly.
Bandits. Well, that should make her night more interesting than a bottle of
ale. "Don't thank me
Bellus Toxicum: yet. I don't know if I'll be able to help. Best way to keep
yourself from catching the disease is to wash your hands, by the way." She
said with a wry smile and headed toward the door, and the horse she had
stabled outside. It was
Bellus Toxicum: probably faster than anything the inn could provide. It
didn't take her long to have the mare saddled and ready to go, it simply took
her a moment to get her bearings. North, he'd said, so north, she steered her
mount and set out. -
Ginger Complex: "....Hm well if you are sure, then you will need this." -He
handed her a map towards the location and nodded, a reassured smile was upon
his face as he walked outside of the inn and pointed her at the right
direction. There was
Ginger Complex: nothing else he could do but point her in the right
direction and watch as the woman took off....as she did, he sighed and rubbed
his hands together...and nodded. Wash his hands, but where would the man get
soap!? Well....that was
Ginger Complex: needed for another day!-[d]
Ginger Complex: [ GM Post ]
Ginger Complex: --And so the town was sought after and left...the woman
would be encountered now with the green fields of the night, and the lushness
of the moon as it streamed over upon the night sky. She would see nothing
around here but the sim
Ginger Complex: ple fresh tracks of a cart, and the feelings of the
eerieness that settled around here. There seemed to be nothing but that
creepy feeling that rolled down your neck and made the backs of your hairs
stand up...aside that, there was
Ginger Complex: nthing but occasional whistling howling-[d]
Bellus Toxicum: - Moira followed the markings upon the map, using no more
light than the moon provided, but when she came upon the wagon tracks, she
dismounted briefly to examine them. The tracks looked fairly new, there was
little erosion to them,
Bellus Toxicum: and this area was not widely traveled. It was the only thing
she had to go on, and so she decided to follow their direction. She climbed
back into the saddle, and spurred the mount on to a brisk pace, covering the
broad distance
Bellus Toxicum: rather quickly as she strayed from the map's directions to
the next town. She hadn't noticed any other tracks coming toward the wagon,
however, and that was unusual if it had been overtaken by bandits. But for
now, all she could do
Bellus Toxicum: was wait and see, and keep her daggers loose in their
sheaths. -
Ginger Complex: ---There was nothing much too the tracks, showed a decent
tracks were set off and there seemed to be no disturbance from them---no
struggle or anything like that. The tracks would move forth and across the
fields and there they
Ginger Complex: moved around---soon the Valley the inkeep spoke of being
bandit territory would appear, it was not as lush and beautful, as there
were alot of zones were rocks were dsplayed all around The tracks seemed to
move along and then all
Ginger Complex: of a sudden---the tracks stopped!-[d]
Bellus Toxicum: - When the tracks came to a stop, so did Moira. Her pale
eyes glanced out into the night, carefully examining the rocks for the
slightest movement of a shadow. Her daggers left their sheaths as she slipped
from the saddle, and began
Bellus Toxicum: a more careful examination of the terminated tracks. She was
a bit flummoxed. A wagon couldn't just disappear like that! It had to have
gone somewhere, and she began making a careful examination of the area
surrounding where the
Bellus Toxicum: tracks disappeared. -
Ginger Complex: --As she investigated she would not see bandits, but she
WOULD see a man in the distance dealing with someone small dragonic [
reptilelike] with a spear, he was handing the man the last of the shipment of
gold and the man loaded the
Ginger Complex: last cart upon there...there of course was the wagon and the
tracks had stopped and the cart seemed to be floating ahead...odd hm? The
small reptile thing squeaked and the man grinned towards him now and nodded
his head.- "Pleasur
Ginger Complex: e doing business withya..." -A snicker now, as he grabbed
the bag of diamonds as the small reptile attempted to load up his own cart
now---seemed they were doing some business!-[d
Bellus Toxicum: - Now that just wasn't right. The man ahead of her seemed
rather pleased with himself. Hmm, small, balding man. She tipped her head
slightly to the side, and then darted back into the shadows of the rocks
where she had previously
Bellus Toxicum: thought bandits might be lurking. He would have to come past
her to leave this valley, and she would wring some answers from him...one way
or another. -
Ginger Complex: ---And thus the Kobloid would squeak and take off, in
another direction, the man grinned now as he would get back into his cart,
start the buggy up and began headed away from here...well of course he didn't
see the woman in the shado
Ginger Complex: ws as he moved-[d]
Bellus Toxicum: - As the cart started toward her, just before he passed her,
she darted out of the shadows, making his horse rear, startled, and she
called out to the driver. "Only fools do business with kobolds. You'll never
get the better deal.
Bellus Toxicum: Got room for a traveller, stranger?" She didn't give him
time to answer. The rearing horse had given her just enough time to swing up
onto the seat next to him, and press the blade of her dagger in his side. -
Ginger Complex: "Wha?!" -And the woman was onboard as the horses seemed to
calm down and there she was, sitting next too him and the dagger was against
his side.- "It was good money! Now what the fuck do you want?!" -He cried
out now as he
Ginger Complex: would look towards her, eyes bewildered now....unarmed, the
man could do nothing but let the dagger push against him, in a way that
would...well it would complicate things in his area of living if he did not
keep it together-[d]
Bellus Toxicum: - She spoke in a calm tone, it might have been soothing if
not for the malicious edge beneath it. "Now, now, no need to use vulgar
language to a lady." She chided. "I just want to know what you were selling
the little vermin." -
Ginger Complex: "....i was selling a tonic too them, what of it?!" -He
growled and felt the blade against him and looked at her---she was cute, but
this was not the time or place, and the man would drive onwards now.-
"Kobloid pay well for snakeo
Ginger Complex: il, its used in their own little experiments and for a case
they gave me 6 bags of diamonds....stupid fools! Its just potent water."
-He laughed a little bit, the man nodded a little bit.-[d]
Bellus Toxicum: - She pressed her blade a little harder into his side,
letting it bite in just a little bit, parting fabric, but not the skin
beneath. "Paid better than the next town over, hmm? Just potent water, you
say? Then how is it supposed to
Bellus Toxicum: cure all the afflicted, or is that a story of your own
making too?" She questioned, as she took the reins from his hand with her
free hand, drawing upon them to stop the cart. -
Ginger Complex: "......Its magic! CHRIST LADY! Im a fucking mage, I taint
the water and they drink it and it "cures them"---He nodded, the damned thing
was almost too his skin and it was scared stiff of what was going too happen.
The man glanced
Ginger Complex: at her- "No tis not 0--its the truth now lemme go!!" -The
cart stopped, he was fearing for his life.- "I made the shitup---the
dieases, all that! I made the disease and the cure---I made the scam
up....jesus christ!"-[d]
Bellus Toxicum: - She smiled then, but it wasn't a pleasant smile. Rather,
it was a little frightening in its cruelty. "I see. Then I will tell you what
you are going to do. I am going to drive this cart into that town, and you
are going to cure
Bellus Toxicum: the people you've cursed. And you're not going to charge
them a copper penny." She let the blade draw just a drop of blood. "And you
are going to hand me that bag of diamonds as payment for driving you there.
I'll leave you one, so
Bellus Toxicum: you can then drive away, as far as this rickety cart will
get you, and set up an honest practice." She smiled again, her eyes narrowing
to slits. "For that I won't bleed you like a stuck pig. Isn't that a fairer
deal than the
Bellus Toxicum: kobolds gave?" -
Ginger Complex: --The smile scared him shitless even more and he blinked as
he looked towards where the woman was now, frightened beyond all
believe....he squeaked hard now as he felt the blood come off as it pierced-
"Oh God please stop! I'll do
Ginger Complex: anything just dont cut me!'---yes yes! I'LL CURE THEM ALL!"
-He cried out now, shivering and shuddering now as he rocked back and forth
now, groaning.---he would do whatever it took to get the knife off of him.-
'T-take it! and
Ginger Complex: here.." -He nodded as he reache dinto pocket and took out a
small vial.- "The effects last for good, its a cure disease potion--k-keep
it!!"- --If the woman took the diamonds she had said she'd see it'd equal up
too about 300
Ginger Complex: Gold when sold-[d]
Bellus Toxicum: - She took the bag of diamonds, and then the vial, slipping
both into a pocket sewn into the bodice of her tattered gown. She pulled the
blade back, just enough that it was no longer cutting into his skin, and then
gave the reins a
Bellus Toxicum: snap. "Then we have an accord. It was nice doing business
with you, Barney." She said his name, making it clear she knew exactly who he
was, and then drove the cart out of the valley and on toward the town he'd
afflicted so he could
Bellus Toxicum: fulfill his end of the bargain. -
Ginger Complex: --He relaxed now heavily as he would feel the pressure and
sensations relieve off of him...PHEW, he had almost died of a heartattack and
groaned a little bit now as his own body relaxed [ just a little bit] Eyes
turned towards
Ginger Complex: her now and he nodded.- "Yes ma'am..yes ma'am...we'll do
what you want, just keep that blade from mez1" -She was a crazy bitch, that
was for sure and he shivered as he watched her drive onwards, hoping that
this was the last he
Ginger Complex: had to deal with this-[d]
Ginger Complex: [ GM Post ]
Ginger Complex: [ GM - Miora received 1 vial of "Cure Disease" and 300 Gold
] --The ride was short and quiet and soon enough whenever the man was
outside, he was saying he discovered a cure through magic---the woman would
watch as he went about
Ginger Complex: and cured each indvidiual that was there...from the oldest
and tallest adult, too the youngest and cutest child---each of them were
individually taken care of and all traces were removed from the town He also
told them all that [
Ginger Complex: due to the magc] he did not need the supplies to sell to
make the cure and he would be doing it for free---no one argued and people
cheered loud and well as the man smiled towards them. it was a passing
glance of a few hours whenev
Ginger Complex: ever the sun s had risen high in the sky [ the night now
gone] and he approached her.- "..Alls done....cured and all."-[d]
Bellus Toxicum: - She gave the man a small nod, leaning against the edge of
the cart. "Well done. The cure is its own reward. As a mage or a healer, you
should remember that." She said, then motioned for him to be on his way. She
was exhausted, and
Bellus Toxicum: still needed to return to the inn to tell the innkeeper that
his family was safe, and he need not fear the spread of the disease to his
little hamlet. -
Ginger Complex: [ GM Post ]
Ginger Complex: --And thus the man was gone, he had left in a hurry with his
own bag of diamonds and exited the town, sighing deeply.- "...stupid rotten,
wait til I get to the next town..." -And those wre the curses heard as he
left-[d]
Ginger Complex: [ Mission Over ]
