OnlineHost: *** You are in "Lair of the Lich". ***
scarred design: Evan appeared on the cold, dark floor. The first thing he
noticed was that he was in a rather large amount of pain. He couldn't help
but let it out, his screams echoing in the halls as he gripped his left side,
the area from which
scarred design: the pain originated. He'd been teleporting, back to the
castle from a visit in RhyDin. How had he missed!? Evan Scar hadn't missed
a teleport since he was five years old! As the pain began to subside, he
became more aware.
scarred design: Wherever he was, it smelled of decay. It was dusty. An old
place. Things were moving in the darkness. Closing his eyes for a moment,
Evan focused himself.. and when they opened again, the green had been
replaced by black, with
scarred design: golden vein-like threads throughout. With these, he saw
everything. He was in an ancient chamber, filled with the undead! The
skeletons and zombies were ignoring him, as they milled about various tasks.
They were.. cleaning?
scarred design: Evan pulled himself to his feet as he watched zombies pick
up debris from the floor.. rocks that had fallen, furnature that had fell to
ruin. There seemed to be two doors, but his eyes were drawn to the throne,
and to the woman
scarred design: sitting on it. Unlike everything else in the room, the
throne and the area around it was in pristine condition. It was made of a
heavy oak, with golden ornaments and a heavy red velvet pillow, with matching
back padding. The
scarred design: woman herself wore a long skirt of purple fabric with gold
dangling in rows down along the seams. Her flat stomach was bare, as were
her full breasts. Golden armlets and bracelets were a part of her decor,
also molded in the
scarred design: same symbols as her throne, and her long, dark hair were
intentionally tied back behind her head. She was pretty, or.. would have
been pretty, had Evan not seen past the illusion. This was no young,
beautiful woman that sat before
scarred design: him. His eyes allowed him to see the decaying tissue of her
true form. Her sunken face, the greying flesh, the hollow lights where her
eyes should have been. For now, he chose to focus on the beautiful aspects,
as the rest were
scarred design: simply.. horrifying. "You disrupted my teleport?" She
smiled. Evan placed a hand on his weapon, eyes narrowed. She rose from her
throne then. "I did not bring you here to fight, boy. I have been watching
the world outside,
scarred design: waiting for someone to come along. Someone smart, someone
powerful." She started toward him, and Evan took a step back. That was when
he felt her hands on his shoulders, and her lips against his ear. "Someone
beautiful." Her
scarred design: tongue then slid along the lobe before Evan pulled away,
disgusted at the mere thought! This made the woman laugh. "So, you see my
true form beneath this? That saves us a little time then." She started to
walk past him, but when
scarred design: she got near, the woman moved in close, her breasts pressed
against him, her gaze meeting his own. "It is a shame, boy, that you could
see what I am before I told you my plan. You would have enjoyed my first
offer a lot more than
scarred design: my second." When Evan pulled away, again reaching for his
sword, he would find the woman once more already seated on her throne. For
once, he felt his wife's or Aunt's frustration when he did it all the time.
"Just tell me what
scarred design: you want. If I wasn't curious about how you disrupted my
teleport, I would have killed you and all your undead abominations already!"
She seemed slightly amused at that, inclining her head a little. "You would
have tried. And
scarred design: what a glorious battle it would have been! But, I have
fought my battles, and won them all. When there were no more foes to kill, I
slept. Slept until I felt it. Another wizard had grown mighty and sought
the path of the Lich.
scarred design: This Lich.. he lives among mortals. He teaches in one of
your schools. He selects the best students, to train as his own apprentices!
It is genius!" Her eyes had widened as she spoke, and she was sitting up a
little straighter
scarred design: in the throne. "But, it must stop. Someone.. will discover
him. If they kill him, they will begin searching for others. I do not wish
a battle with the mortals of this world. I want peace. The lands
surrounding this place have
scarred design: been in my family for a thousand years. I wish to maintain
my hold over them. I want to.. come out from the crypt. I will hand the
other, but you, boy.. I want you to spread the good word of my name. Tell
stories, leave notices,
scarred design: do it however you like!" Evan obviously appeared dubious as
he stared at her, head tilted to the side a little, a brow raised. "Are
you.. shitting me? For real? You want me to wander around and tell people
how nice you are?
scarred design: You're an ancient undead abomination.. and sure, you put on
a nice illusion, but you're a monster. Do you see where that might come off
as a little crazy sounding to me?" She didn't outwardly react to what he'd
said. Oh, how Evan
scarred design: wished that he could read minds at that moment, especially
as he watched the lights in her eyes flash. When she finally did speak, it
was in the same calm tone as before. "I am going to kill the Lich, who would
steal children for
scarred design: his own ends. Though bringing you here was painful, you are
unharmed. If you do this for me, I will pay you gold. If you do not.."
Evan tensed, waiting, ready. "..then I will allow you to leave, unharmed.
Does that not prove
scarred design: my intentions?" Well, that was something. Evan relaxed a
bit, as he considered it, nodding slowly. "Alright, but I want something
else, as well. Two things I'm sure you can get without a problem." The
woman arched a brow. Both
scarred design: arms crossed over Evan's chest, as he stood his ground. "A
rib bone, from a Wight. A small amount of Phoenix ashes." The woman laughed
from the throne, and Evan couldn't tell if she thought he was out of his
mind, or if his
scarred design: request was so absurdedly easy that she took him for a joke
now. Eventually, she nodded. "Fine, fine. Do as I wish, and these things
will be yours, but after I give them to you.. if you deceive me, I will crush
you! I do not
scarred design: seek battles with mortals any longer, but I refuse to be
deceived by them!" That was fair enough, Evan thought. He inclined his head
slightly. "It's a deal, then. While I'm spreading your good name.. what is
it?"
scarred design: "Serci de Valanora et Lumino." Well, that was quite a
mouthful. Evan nodded, before holding out a hand. "I need gold. We're
going to make some donations. To a church, to the poor, to a school. It
sure ain't coming out of my
scarred design: pockets." Serci seemed to give an annoyed sigh. One of the
zombies shambled over to him, placing a leather pouch in Evan's outstretched
hand. Oh Gods, the thing smelled horrible! Evan gasped as it returned to
work. "Alright, it
scarred design: begins. Have my components and money ready. I'll return
soon." With that, Evan vanished..
scarred design: --------------------------------------------------------
scarred design: Evan divided up the money he'd been given, every single
coin, and had donated it to the Prim'xela Institute, the Church of Xeladra
(since the Lich was obviously a spellcaster), and at local Magistrate to be
given to the poor. In
scarred design: each place, Evan had left the following scroll, along with
the money:
scarred design: "The Lady Serci de Valanora et Lumino cares for the people
of Eldon Heath! She seeks to comfort the poor, aid the church, and further
the advancement of the education of children. She will be a beacon of light
in a darkening
scarred design: world."
