Races: A Quick Overview
This is a quick down and dirty about the perks and drawbacks to being certain races.
This is a quick down and dirty about the perks and drawbacks to being certain races.
Note: See "In Depth Information" for information on each race such as what they look like and common traits. Be sure you know the race well, before applying!
We as role players live for the story, the depth, the lives we can create and destroy with simple words put to form. As such we seek to further define that which we have created, in this case, our characters. It is one thing to simply say "I am a Vampire" but it another thing entirely to know what it is to be a Vampire. The hunger, the night, that painful ball of light known as the sun. To find the inner most details about your race, you will have to go to the race page for the particular one you are going after. This page is a simplistic breakdown of both the perks and the draw backs of being certain races.
The Perks
Some races have innate born gifts. Just by being of their kind they can see in the dark, or lash out in a feral fury. The items listed as perks are skills in the game. If you have already selected one of these perks, you get the spent skill back to use on another.
The Weakness
Some races just as they have a perk, have a flaw. Something that levels the playing field for the others. These are actions/items/spells/or what-have-you that wound your particular race more than it would another race.
*NOTE: An attack done by your racial weakness is considered a festering wound. This means several things:
1) Even if you can self heal, with this wound you may not. It needs to be done by a spell, by a potion, magic item, or by a healer.
2) Festering wounds linger and draw upon the victim. Meaning that until healed, you take 2 points of damage each combat round or 2 points each minute out of combat, until the heal takes place.
What It Means To Be Pure-Blood
We know that some people wish to be characters that are half this, half that, and sprinkled with something else. Wonderful, we encourage diversity! However you do not gain the perks of any of your ancestors. Sorry, your muddled blood is not strong enough to draw those innate abilities. Positive side, you do not gain any of the weaknesses either! But to keep things fair, if you are a half and half.....look below to that exact racial name. Half-n-Half.
The Races
Vampire
Perk: You gain Darksight & Vampiric Command as free racial skills (not counted against your skill by rank).
Weakness: If you do nt have Daywalker as a skill, it is sunlight. If you are caught playing where there is daylight, you die. Fried up. Game over Jack. No more you. If you are in a combat situation and a daylight source comes to play, you take 5 damage each round until you get away from it.
If you HAVE the Daywalker skill, the sunlight does not carry the same effect. Instead your body composition is now weak against Holy items. Any wound done to you by a holy item does +5 damage and is considered a festering wound.
Lycan
Perk:You gain Shapeshifting & Bestial Fury as free racial skills (not counted against your skill by rank).
Weakness: Severe Allergy (Corax it is gold, Anasasi is poison, All other Lycans is silver). Anytime you are struck by this substance you take an additional +5 dmg. Also note the festering wound from above.
Celestial (Demon or Angel)
Perk: You gain Celestial Heritage & Long Life as free racial skills (not counted against your skill by rank).
Weakness: Demon is a holy weapon/item/skill/etc. Angel is an unholy weapon/item/skill/etc. this means that the skill, spell, or weapon is specifically made as unholy or holy. Not a simple "Well my guy is a good guy, so he has a holy weapon." You want a holy powered weapon, buy the enchantment for it. Anytime you are struck by this (holy or unholy) you take an additional +5 dmg. Also note the festering wound from above.
Note: If you are an angel or demon that has turned their back on their birth alignment, such as angel walking the path of evil, or a demon attempting redemption, then whatever alignment you are, the opposite is what damages you. ie: evil angel would take damage from holy weapons.
Dragon
Perk: You gain Dragon Heritage & Long Life as free racial skills (not counted against your skill by rank)
Weakness: The opposing element that goes against your kind. A red dragon would try to avoid cold, a crystal dragon would avoid shadow, a bronze dragon would avoid fire, a black dragon would avoid lightning, etc, etc. Anytime you are struck by the opposing force you take an additional +5 dmg. Also note the festering wound from above. [Note: If you do not know the element you are weak against, just ask. We have the list.]
Elemental
Perk: You gain Elemental Affinity & Poison/Venom Immunity as free racial skills (not counted against your skill by rank).
Weakness: The opposing element that goes against your kind. A fire elemental would try to avoid water, a wind would avoid electricity, etc, etc. Anytime you are struck by the opposing force you take an additional +5 dmg. Also note the festering wound from above.
Kh'ronen
Perk: You gain Out of the Loop & Tempus Fugit as free racial skills (not counted against your skill by rank).
Weakness: Sonic energy, as thunderous noises set off your natural rhythm and order. Anytime you are struck by this you take an additional +5 dmg. Also note the festering wound from above.
Note: Kh'ronen are game-specific race to the realm of Eldon Heath.
Elf
Perk: You gain Elven Beauty as a free racial skill (not counted against your skill by rank).
Weakness: You do not have a weakness, though please note some things about your race. Elves do not like orcs, and they hate Drow. There are multitudes of others things but these are the basics.
Half-Elf
Perk: You gain Low-Light Vision as free racial skills (not counted against your skill by rank).
Weakness: You do not have a weakness. Though please select one or the other when it comes to the style of which you were raised. Half-elfs tend to favor one or the other side of their bloodline.
Human
Perk: You gain 1 free racial skill to select at creation (not counted against your skill by rank).
Weakness: You do not have a weakness, unless generally being counted as the most rare race in the world is such a thing.
Drow
Perk: You gain Darksight as free racial skills (not counted against your skill by rank).
Weakness: You do not have a weakness, but please note some Drow features. The sun, generally is a discomforting thing for you, so long lived beneath the earth has your kind been. Also, you hate elves, abhor them, wish them dead.
Half-n-Half
Perk: You gain 1 free racial skill to select at creation (not counted against your skill by rank).
Weakness: You do not have a weakness, unless generally being counted as the most common race in the world is such a thing.
Note: This is what you take if nothing else fits!
