the rakish blade: [ RaS Rosha Mission — Stuck in the Branches (solo) ]
the rakish blade: [ Setting ] For long years, the treant and old lady Hilda
had lived together in relative peace, inhabiting an old farm well away from
civilization where the days were peaceful and the nights quiet, with no
youngins to trample the
the rakish blade: grass or the gardens that Hilda tended religiously. Then
one day Hilda acquired a cat. Where it had come from neither knew; one day
it had simply arrived at the farm and followed the old woman around while she
was about her
the rakish blade: chores, and she in turn invited the creature into the
house and before long they were fast friends. Then, earlier that morning,
after weeks of peering at the somber treant curiously but never drawing too
close, the cat had somehow
the rakish blade: managed to climb the towering creature and refused to come
down from the interweaving branches, no matter what old lady Hilda plied it
with! As afternoon began to deepen into evening, Hilda was quite concerned
about her poor pet
the rakish blade: catching a chill during the night. If only some brave
individual would come along to assist her in reclaiming her treasured kitty!
the rakish blade: [ End Setting — Begin RP ]
the rakish blade: Ave was no stranger to ranging; wherever he ended up he
made a point to learn every nook and cranny of the land that surrounded him,
no matter how out of the way or useless it may seem. He never knew when he
would have reason to
the rakish blade: hide in the forest for a few weeks while trouble blew
over, or when some poor fat merchant would trundle lost through the sprawling
backroads begging to be relieved of his goods. One must prepare for all
contingencies. Still, he
the rakish blade: debated for a good fifteen minutes whether or not he
should trouble himself with the scene below his vantage on a low hill.
Eventually he grunted and headed that way, black cloak whipping in the wind
to herald his arrival onto the
the rakish blade: farm grounds. Approaching the elder as she beckoned
pitifully to her lounging cat, he slowed a short distance away and frowned
between the woman and treant. He'd known a few such creatures in his day,
and all of them had been
the rakish blade: difficult; set in their ways. "Got yourself a problem
here, eh?" Remarked with vague amusement.
the rakish blade: [ GM - Old Woman ] "M' cat! M' Theodore! 'e won't come
down, I offered 'im milk an' all! Th' tree person 'ere, 'e says it's not 'is
role to meddle in th' affairs o' felines. No 'elp at all! I 'ave a little
saved away, you're
the rakish blade: welcome to 'it if you can save m' precious kitty, sir!"
Hilda looked to the man, imploring him with her eyes. Worrying at her own
hands, she glanced between him and the cat several times, almost trembling as
she fretted over the
the rakish blade: 'trapped' cat. There was honestly in her words, and
besides, who other than an old woman would stand around beneath a treant
wailing up to her poor pet? [/GM]
the rakish blade: The offer of cold, hard coin drew Ave's interest right
away. He kept cool, though, and stepped past the old woman, his eyes
narrowing as he took in the scene, trying to plot a course up through the
branches if he couldn't talk the
the rakish blade: treant into simply shaking the cat down onto the ground.
"Why, my dear lady, I would be happy to assist you! And I assure you that
your coin will go to good use; I'll give it to the poor children left to live
on the street." The
the rakish blade: lie came easily to the rogue, as most did, and he even
flashed her a reassuring smile before he returned to assessing the situation.

speaking in a dee,

and lengthy thoughts it had been enjoying before the interruption. [/GM]
the rakish blade: Ave frowned, but he supposed he ought not be too surprised
by the treant's refusal. Surely he could manage to climb a tree and snatch a
cat without incident, right? Rubbing his hands together, he stripped off his

the rakish blade: them down to join the cloak, then approached the treant
again. "You won't even know I'm here, I promise." And then up he went!

the rakish blade: For good reason, Averion was more of a dog person than a
cat person. He didn't trust the creatures and all, and expected that the
thing would flee as soon as he got close enough to reach out and grab at it.
So, instead, he reached
the rakish blade: down to retrieve one of several coils of rope that hung
from his belt. Shifting into a safer position, he used both hands to fashion
and lasso and then tested the knot, nodding to himself when the work was
complete. Then, turning
the rakish blade: to regard the feline again, he summoned his most
reassuring smile and waggled the fingers of one hand at it. The other hand
began to swing the makeshift lasso to and fro as he gauged distance and

the rakish blade: through the air where they could trouble it no more...
[/GM]
the rakish blade: "Hah!" He wasn't surprise, but Ave allowed himself a
moment of victory nonetheless. It was short lived, of course, for he felt
the treant take notice. Glancing downward, he frowned; the ground was quite
far and jumping might
the rakish blade: endanger the animal more than himself. But, well, he
didn't feel like ending up a smear on the ground, so he gave a yank to
hopefully draw the kitty in close before plunging from the thick branches of
the treant. "Don't trouble
