Eldon Heath, on the world of Spirydon, has not made it into the "modern" times yet. Plain and simple, and we ask for respect in this regard.
Our time frame is at the simplest parts of the world, fantasy medieval and at the most advanced, steampunk fantasy (victorian era).
While you may bring in modern items such as cell phones, ipods, cd players, and the like they simply will not work on this world. Also, modern guns will not work either. Victorian style dueling pistols could be put into play if desired but nothing modern.
Magi-tech items such as mirrors of communication, scrying tools, will work.
You have two choices---
1. Simply have equipment and technology that does nothing in our world while you are here. Or just don't bring such things with you into this world if your character moves back and forth.
2. Allow the items to "magically revert" to something usable in our world, or trade them in for things that work in this world. Your cell phone could be traded in for magical communication devices. Your laptop could be traded in for a slate folio.
Questions - ask. No harm done, for asking. I can also help you figure out a magical equivalent if there is one for something.

Some "magical" or "Magitech" replacements for modern items...
Memory Orbs - Palm sized glass orbs that record the happenings of a certain place in 360 degrees around the orb itself. Many have the ability to float above, and record what is happening below it, while others sit in a small stand and record what is going on around it. Modern Equivalent: Videos
Capture Card - Each capture card can hold up to one hour's worth of information. It records, and can be played back as many times as wanted. It physically looks like a small, thin rectangular piece of glass, one side painted black. Modern Equivalent: Videos
Gems of Location - These were first created by the elven in Quirilia, they soon spread to other worlds and realms. It appears as an ordinary emerald, peridot or other green gem partially encased in a nugget of silver. Each gem is dedicated to one specific geographical area, a forest, a village, a mountain, a city, etc. Upon command, the gem projects a 3 foot square illusion of the area, showing a 1 square mile area. Additional commands allow you to show the map at larger scale, as well as move to show other areas contained within the gem. A gem cannot hold more than an area of 100 square miles. It shows all permanent structures, and natural formations present when the gem was created. A gem does not update with time, so a found gem may be out of date. Modern Equivalent: Mapquest
Memory Crystals - These are thick, quartz lenses with irregular, uncut rims. One side is high polished and transparent while the other side resembles an uncut gemstone. When the crystal is placed to a person's eye and they wink, it records the image seen through the crystal. It only records what the eye can see in the current light conditions. The image created is permanent, though any attempt to remove the image magically, results in the crystal disintegrating. Modern Equivalent: Camera
Mirrors of Communication - This item comes in sets of a least two, though you can have as many as twelve in a set. They have elaborately carved hardwood frames and polished mirrors of silver that is around 18 inches in diameter or 2 foot square. A user who speaks while standing in front of the mirror has his voice and form projected through the other mirrors in the set, allowing for instantaneous communication with anyone looking into one of the other mirrors. A set of two mirrors shows the opposing mirror's view around them, and multiple users have their image projected when they speak. If users speak at the same time, multiple images and voices with overlap within the mirror and become confusing. Modern Equivalent: Video Phones
Slate Folio - Created by crafty mages, this is an alternative to the bulky spellbooks many wizards must carry around. It weighs little and takes up less room, making it easier to hide from thieves. It appears as a one foot by 9 inch piece of gray slate, which can hold up to five other books. Two gems sit at the bottom and one to the side, the side gem allows you to choose which book you wish information from. Once you choose a book, the first page appears on the slate folio, and by using the two gems on the bottom you can flip forward or backwards. To copy a book, you place the folio atop a closed book, select with the side gem which of the five slots you wish this book attuned to, and press in the side gem. It takes one hour to read the book and when it's done, the gem pops up. You may overwrite present books this way as well. The folio can hold any mundane book or spellbook of 100 pages or less. It doesn't duplicate the magic of any book, or any magical writing such as on a scroll. If there are magical effects within a mundane book, it shows those glyphs, rune, sigil or symbol with a non-magical image indicating where in the book it's located. Modern Equivalent: PDA
Big Books of Knowledge - Instead of reading for the information, BBoK's (commonly pronounced bee-bok) are crafted to be spoken to, and the answer is given. The most interesting thing about a BBoK is that it continues to learn, never going out of date. They are very rare, and only five are known to exist. One is in Emmarie's private collection, one is still in UV, one is in a citizen's private library, and two have not been found. Modern Equivalent: Encyclopedia/Internet Research
Translator - These translating devices are extremely difficult to make, as such there are only a handful in existence. They are round glass objects edged in copper. When held over an object that needs translated, much like a magnifying glass the words are seen through the glass in whichever language the translator has been created to translate to.
