record.)

x Silver Heat x: Adept Akito Takano
Amuiril Travm: Adept Amuiril Travm
DragonLightMage: His was done already, "Apprentice Darien Baronstar of the
Red banner."
Amuiril Travm: Amuiril made his arrival, just a little before class began
(late for him). A brief glance around was made, before he found himself and
settled into an available seat.
a penitent crave: Apprentice Benjamin League
OnlineHost: Exalted Emerald has entered the room.
TrinityFlareX: "Apprentice Emily Estcarp."
Exalted Emerald: Apprentice Emmarie Galway
Angelic Omicidio: "Apprentice Amata Omicidio"
Exalted Emerald: She was late she figured, she was always late, but she
slipped in, wearing her apprentice robes, and took a seat.
damnable reverie: || "Apprentice Winter Les'Cer"
TrinityFlareX: Emily waited to see what the tea leaves had to say. Honestly
she hoped it was something good.
damnable reverie: | emily-mun, IM! xD |
OnlineHost: Vv Nuit vV has entered the room.
OnlineHost: TrinityFlareX rolled 1 40-sided die: 31
Halo of Noire: (Has everyone stated that wants credit for this class?)
DragonLightMage: Wondered what his said too.
damnable reverie: 'Dog....' -she said it moving the cup around. -
Vv Nuit vV: And back, seems the time had been adjusted. And of course, she
slipped into a seat beside Amuiril.
Halo of Noire: (As last week, if you wish to ask a question use a "?" and if
you wish to make a statement use a "!" so I know to have Mela call upon you)
Azounabis: "Apprentice Azounabis"
OnlineHost: DragonLightMage rolled 3 140-sided dice: 71 126 19
OnlineHost: TrinityFlareX rolled 2 40-sided dice: 16 15
OnlineHost: Venque DeVashan has entered the room.
OnlineHost: TrinityFlareX rolled 2 140-sided dice: 5 85
Halo of Noire: (last call for states for credit, I'm about to begin once
these tea leaf rolls are done)
Amuiril Travm: A single nod was given over to Nuit as she settled beside
him.
OnlineHost: TrinityFlareX rolled 1 140-sided die: 24
OnlineHost: Venque DeVashan has left the room.
damnable reverie: - she leaned over to whisper into darian's ear first.- 'i
see kettle.. triangle.. chain.. someone close will have unexpected..
illness.. and chain.. wedding.. engagement... maybe your girlfriend?'
TrinityFlareX: Adjusting the silvery blue corset with black lacing, halter
style, black tight jeans as her three inched heels shifted her stance as she
peered over. Seems class was starting, pushing her raven braid behind her
over her shoulder she
TrinityFlareX: turned to wait to hear what Winter said about the tea leaves.
damnable reverie: - then with Emily she went back to look! - 'Dog, axe
mouth... you also a good friend will need help.. someone stronge... top..
command? and watch.. someone taking something..' -ok tea leafs done!-
DragonLightMage: Smiles. "Hmm...I did just buy her a chain...kettle...I dont
know...triangle oh dear love triangle?"...thinks....
TrinityFlareX: A nod, slight blink but it was more for fun as she made her
way over to the seats where she claimed one on the other side of Nuit. Yes,
totally sitting beside her best friend.
Halo of Noire: And, just in time it seemed, she headed down the stairs in
her formal crimson gown with the buttons up to her neck, and moved to step
atop the podium and stand behind
damnable reverie: 'its symbols to show things.. chain is rings.. love..
romance.. kettle illiness.. small... and trinagle is something..
unexpected..'
Azounabis: There wasn't much else to do besides what he'd already
accomplished not moments ago. Legs were out straight, tight and crossed at
the ankles. Arms folded neatly over the broad of his chest. Head hung enough
to watch ongoings past
damnable reverie: - collected her items before moving a rag into her cup to
take leaves out and clean it best she could. moved back to her seat! -
Halo of Noire: the lectern. Opening her notes, she gave a slight nod to
those gathered and a wan smile. "Good evening mages and visitors. I am
honored you all have come to listen to me tonight. Perhaps it is because of
the new
DragonLightMage: "Oh ok, thank you" Tips! and sits.
Azounabis: strands of befallen whites. Shoulders rose at last, slowly,
bringing life to the inanimate, but then receded again in loieu of only a
breath drawn.
Halo of Noire: rule I've instituted that you gain credit for a session? Or
perhaps you wish to steal the Ankh from Amuiril. Regardless, we should have a
nice discussion here tonight. Tonight's lecture and discussion is about What
Is Magic and
Halo of Noire: some other extraneous ideas." She drew in a breath and
brought a cup of water out to take a sip. A hand rose to rub the back of her
neck for a moment before she would begin again.
TrinityFlareX: She remembered she needed her green robe, it was in her bag
as she pulled it out and tugged it on. Nearly forgot about that!
Halo of Noire: "To adequately discuss what magic IS, we will first talk
about what magic is NOT. Now, I'm sure you will all have lots of questions
and statements, but if possible reserve them for when I call for discussion
between sections. If
DragonLightMage: Usually always had his on...
Angelic Omicidio: She crossed her legs watching them and taking notes.
Halo of Noire: it's truly important, then please raise your hand. ( ! and
?). Someone tell me an example of what you think magic is NOT?"
DragonLightMage: !
Halo of Noire: "Darien."
Azounabis: !
Amuiril Travm: !
OnlineHost: FooIishBIood has left the room.
OnlineHost: rogue evil has left the room.
Halo of Noire: "Azounabis, then."
DragonLightMage: "Magic is not something to misuse, and is not produced
without help from another source, thanking the sources is advised as magick
is not what you own, it is merely borrowed and must be returned in some
form."
Halo of Noire: "Thank you for your observation. Azounabis?"
Azounabis: "Me."
TrinityFlareX: Emily blinked, she tilted her head listening as she shook her
head at Darien's statement. She merely listened.
Halo of Noire: Smirks. "Amuiril."
Amuiril Travm: "Technology above the understanding of another
culture."
Azounabis: "Am I correct Mistress?"
Amuiril Travm: "For example, your cell phones."
TrinityFlareX: !
OnlineHost: LegacyofBIue has entered the room.
DragonLightMage: Chuckles, well it was true, he was not magick.
Halo of Noire: "I don't know you well enough Azounabis but if you say you
are not magic, I believe you. Yes, Amuiril you are correct, though we may
think many things are magic, they are not. In ancient times
OnlineHost: LegacyofBIue has left the room.
Halo of Noire: the ability to read was considered magic, for only a very few
could do this, and these had a lot of power because they could "magically"
understand script written. I will take one more. Emily?"
TrinityFlareX: "Magic is not fate or chance of luck."
a penitent crave: !
Halo of Noire: "Perhaps, perhaps not." She smiled. "Thank you for your
observation. Magic is not constrained in some ways by physics or science,
even though magic can sometimes be considered a type of science. For
instance, there are spells that
Halo of Noire: create something from nothing. That is against the rules of
science. Or what of the rule that there is an equal and opposite reaction
for every action. In magic, that COULD be the case, but it may not."
Halo of Noire: "Yes Ben?"
a penitent crave: Cough. "Magic..isn't easy."
TrinityFlareX: She giggled.
Angelic Omicidio: Tottally whispered 'but your mom is..' under her breat.
DragonLightMage: Eyes widened.
TrinityFlareX: [ -muns slips afk due to baby- ]
Halo of Noire: "It is not easy, though some make it look easy, and it is not
without a price. We will speak of this later. Thank you. One thing that might
be debatable to some of you, is the fact that in our world, magic is not
scarce. As far as
Amuiril Travm: "..."
Halo of Noire: we know, magic will not run out at any certain time. Now you
may run out of energy, or sometimes called Mana, but we are lucky and we do
not have to worry that our use of magic will use up reserves."
OnlineHost: LegacyofBIue has entered the room.
Halo of Noire: "So, our next question is, now that we've touched on what
magic is NOT... is what IS magic? I have a few ideas for you, perhaps you
will have some at the end as well. What I speak of can sometimes be termed
as your "Magic World
OnlineHost: LegacyofBIue has left the room.
Halo of Noire: View" or MVW. Everyone of us inhere might have a slightly
different MWV which comes from our own studies, the realms and worlds we have
come from or visited, or experience. So what is magic...
damnable reverie: - wasn't that the truth. she leaned back in her chair and
moved her hand onto the little orb who she had followed in. the orb 'busted'
giving way the tiny
damnable reverie: woman who lived in it allowing her to rest aginst her lap
.-
Halo of Noire: #1 Magic could be a mystical energy resource. In some worlds
they might call it "Force", or term it as "power" or "mana". The arcane
energy might be one type of energy, that we form into various types of magic.
OR it might be
Halo of Noire: various types of energy such as cold energy, fire, soul,
positive and negative energy sources. This energy source might come from
leylines or mage nodes or it may be rife in the air we breathe. But it is
around us, and we pull from
Halo of Noire: it to use it. Mystical energy is neutral.. like gravity. Can
energy be used for good and evil? Of course, but the energy itself, is
neutral. Perhaps the universe we live in is a massive computer and we who
know magic have the "cheat
OnlineHost: LegacyofBIue has entered the room.
Halo of Noire: codes" to make things happen?" She grinned and continued.
"It is like science. It is automatic and scientifically repeatable . When you
choose to cast a fireball, then you do not age someone 10 years. It is fire.
It may be a spark
OnlineHost: LegacyofBIue has left the room.
OnlineHost: Dynamic Fatality has entered the room.
Halo of Noire: or it may burn down a village. But every time you cast
fireball, you know you're going to get fire."
Halo of Noire: "Secondly, magic may be the primal energy of our world. This
is energy as well, but this is not an outside energy, this is the primal
force imbued into the very land we walk on, the air we breathe, the water we
drink."
Halo of Noire: "Channel it however you want, motions, incantations, drawing
a circle..and the world responds. Now the qustion that arises from this is,
if we are pulling the primal energy from our world, is that how dead magic
areas appear? Has
Halo of Noire: the magic been pulled and used up in that area, and there is
no more?" She pondered for a moment, glancing around to see if anyone had a
comment.
DragonLightMage: Thinks...
Dynamic Fatality: Silently he attempted to slip inside through the parted
doors. Careful footsteps guiding the way back into the same seat he occupied
before. Taking seconds to get comfortable and delivering a nudge of an elbow
into Nuit. Focused
DragonLightMage: !
Halo of Noire: Apparently not. She continued. "Thirdly, magic could be the
caster's will, sheer belief within us. Mages have such a belief that magic
will occur, that it does." She paused. "Yes Darien?"
Dynamic Fatality: attention primarily being towards the lesson at hand. A
small hint of a smirk creeping over his lips while listening.
Azounabis: !
DragonLightMage: "Perhaps, though it might be there is a 'Black hole affect'
in that area? And that other worlds draw from there as well creating the
illusion and affect that when we, in this world draw from it, it is in vain?"
Halo of Noire: "That is a possibility."
Halo of Noire: "Fourthly, magic could come from some physical or
metaphysical outside creature or thing. Perhaps magic is strictly drawn from
the divine, deities, demons...Or maybe it is drawn from other dimensions,
Halo of Noire: or other planes of existence. Maybe it is something some
worlds know as "The Weave".
Halo of Noire: "Or, it could be in your blood, in your genes. And we who are
mages have something within us that allow us to do magic. Maybe it is an
infection we all have, or something living inside of us like a symbiote. Or
perhaps magic comes
Halo of Noire: from your aura. Or your physical or mental strength. I have
read of a world where fat stores are used to cast magic. So, before battles
the mages eat until they are bloated and fat, to have enough energy to cast
enough spells
DragonLightMage: Hmm, Azou wanted to add something.
Halo of Noire: in battle. I have also heard of worlds where only those are
are mentally ill can cast magic. Forgive me Azounabis, go ahead."
Azounabis: Is content to listen.
Azounabis: "Have dead magic areas ever begun to flow with magic once more?"
Halo of Noire: "Yes, it has been recorded. There was a dead magic area that
was coursed with a rift of positive energy, which flooded the area with magic
and restored it. I do not know how long it lasted, if at all, though."
Azounabis: "Thank you."
Halo of Noire: "Are mages insane? Some would argue that I am." She smirked,
and turned her paper. "In some worlds, magic only happens with blood
sacrifice. A small spell such as a torchlight may only need the sacrifice of
a few bugs, more powerful
Halo of Noire: spells take larger animals. The most powerful spells of all,
are from the sacrifice of innocent children. Entire villages can be
exterminated, to produce massive magic."
OnlineHost: LegacyofBIue has entered the room.
DragonLightMage: There should be a magick resovoir or protection group in
scarce areas like that. ...Hmm sacrifice, hence his point of having something
in return.
Halo of Noire: "Or perhaps, very simply, magic is merely a supernatural
effect the very same as racial abilities you have such as being able to see
in the dark, or hear very well, or climb the walls and turn into a spider. A
spell is no different
Azounabis: !
Halo of Noire: than a psion using their mind, or a werewolf turning into a
wolf or man. And those, my dear audience, are the ideas that I have on what
magic could be. The question we all ask quite often, is ... is the arcane,
and psionics, and
Halo of Noire: incarnum, and racial abilities, and other supernatural things
the same? A discussion I hoped Skhorn would be here for. Yes, Azounabis?"
Azounabis: "Of the mentioned possibilities to what magic could be what
exactly, within this realm, is magic?"
Halo of Noire: "And that, my friend, is the question of the night."
DragonLightMage: All of the above? What you believe? He thinks.
Halo of Noire: "I believe it is mystical energy. Though I believe that the
caster's will has a lot to do with how powerful your magic can be. And, in
many cases, I attribute some supernatural effects as magical. So my belief is
a mixture."
Azounabis: He could think of one particular chic within the Hills who'd eat
this stuff right up. Him? He just sat there and folded his arms never once
indicating signs of life save for the rise of tendons in drawn breath.
Halo of Noire: "I only work here, I don't make the rules. So, perhaps we
will neve rknow *exactly* what causes magic here."
OnlineHost: LegacyofBIue has left the room.
DragonLightMage: !
Halo of Noire: "Yes Darien."
DragonLightMage: "I think that Magick, Is what you personally believe it to
be, you think it and wish it enough, it happens. Though when pulling from a
source, you are directing the energies to you and, to return the energies
back, will help you
DragonLightMage: draw from those sources later on"
Halo of Noire: "Thank you for sharing your opinion, Darien. Let's move on, I
have a few more points to cover. Then we will have a discussion for those
that wish to stay."
Halo of Noire: "We have said what magic is not. We have discussed what magic
might be. Now I ask you, are there limits to magic or are we as mages,
earthbound gods?"
Azounabis: !
DragonLightMage: Too many people draw from spots and not return them...that
is where our abilities are sometimes flawed. He thinks.
Halo of Noire: "We have already discussed one of these and this is antimagic
fields, or areas of dead/ null magic. Yes Azounabis?"
Azounabis: "I'm sorry, was that question proposed to be answered now?
Whether magic has limits.
Halo of Noire: "Feel free. I have my ideas, but share an idea with us."
Amuiril Travm: !
Dynamic Fatality: Another successful lesson to learn about based on Alex's
watch. Unfortunately it was getting late the progress in escaping to his den
had commenced. Placing a soft kiss on Nuit's cheek before standing and making
his way towards the
Dynamic Fatality: exit. Offering a wave over towards Mela in respect for the
teachings.
Azounabis: "Forgive me. It wasn't my intention to speak out of turn. My
current understanding though is that magic has no limits."
Halo of Noire: Waves in return.
OnlineHost: Dynamic Fatality has left the room.
Halo of Noire: "Ahh but I do believe it does. Amuiril?"
Amuiril Travm: "Aptitude and skill. Some mages are simply unable to
cast spells that bend reality to their whim."
Amuiril Travm: "The term everyone starts somewhere applies."
Azounabis: A sage nod then. "We're limited, magic is not."
Amuiril Travm: "There is a second factor, if I may:"
Angelic Omicidio: "Magic also binds some people.. as some people are bond
from it.." Random though.
Halo of Noire: "There may be some who are born with magic, but it still
takes skill, practice, study to do greater things. I suppose you could say
that magic is limitless, and we as mages are constricted, yes. But... yes,
Amuiril?"
Amuiril Travm: "The rules of the universe one occupies."
Amuiril Travm: "Here, Arcane magic is freely available. As are
psionics and divine power. In another world: Havenlore--psionics are
unheard of, and magic is granted only so long as the elder gods had provided
it: Even arcane magic."
Amuiril Travm: "Even then, a mage travelling from one world to the next
may find his spell, one he knows without a thought, give a completely
different result."
Halo of Noire: "Right. A mage may be an archmage of great power, but if they
travel to a world that only allows those with a certain parasite in their
body to cast magic, they are out of luck. Or travel to a demiplane where no
magic works at all.
Azounabis: "Wordly or dimensional restrictions. Not an unfamiliar concept.I
definitely agree."
Halo of Noire: Well all of we mages would suffer then, as we relyon our
magic a great deal I'd say. Healing is second nature to many of us through
magic. We may very well die as weaklings in one world, but move mountains
Halo of Noire: in another."
Halo of Noire: "There are also areas where magic goes wild, and we are not
in control. But as far as the mage themselves, our limits we've spoken of
some, but others could be illness, tiredness, lack of mental strength.
Depression. Unfocused - of
OnlineHost: Warden Hashibara has entered the room.
damnable reverie: - she took a pen writing down some things.. -
Warden Hashibara: Yuriko left the recruiting hall to come for the lecture.
( Sorry I'm late, got off work late. )
Halo of Noire: which meditation is a grand thing to know how to do. Or maybe
we lack the resources we need to cast. But my point is that, magic is an awe
inspiring thing that we attempt to channel, but it doesn't always work the
way we want."
Halo of Noire: She nodded to Yuriko. She'd started a little earlier tonight
because she and her mun were exhausted. "My final note I wish to speak on
before we open the floor to discussion, is this question. Nod your head yes
or no... but I ask
Halo of Noire: you, is there a price to pay to cast magic?" Brow rose.
Exalted Emerald: Nods in assent. Most definitely.
Amuiril Travm: He nodded.
Warden Hashibara: She nodded, taking a seat near the back.
Halo of Noire: Glancing around, to see if the apprentices in the group
realize there is a price to pay for the power of magic.
damnable reverie: .... - she looked down a second.. thinking. -
Halo of Noire: "There is, and anyone that attempts to tell you they have
found a way for you to be powerful without paying a price, is a liar. Some
may pay a bigger price than others, but magic effects us in many ways. As you
grow in power you
Halo of Noire: will find this out (since you are all required to take
flaws). For example, I will show you one price I pay for my mage." She rolled
up her sleeves and held out her arms. At first they might not see the
rune-scarred flesh but as the
Halo of Noire: numerous runes carved into her very body rose to the surface
they'd see red blooded runes covering her arms. She lowered her sleeves.
"Some struggle with insomnia. Some like my friend Emmarie, struggle with
maintaining her place in
Halo of Noire: this world due to the type of magic she casts. Some grow
forgetful. Some glow for a good while after they cast a spell. You may become
addicted to something. Your hair may turn white. Your muscles may wither and
you grow weak in
Halo of Noire: body. I don't say this to scare you but you must know that
magic WILL effect you in some way. Hell you may go insane for periods of time
after spellcasting, or it may make you insanely hungry or thirsty. Technology
might screw up
DragonLightMage: Nods at Yuri. His flaw, everytime he casts, leaves him open
for psycic attacks for a time as his aura weakens.
Halo of Noire: around you. You may develop pain when you cast. You might
lose touch with gravity. I will not bore you with my lists of flaws and
effects....but know that it will happen to you." Nods.
Warden Hashibara: In fact, if one looked at Yuriko closely, now that she
took off the hood of the cloak she wore, her hair was its usual black, except
for white roots that were beginning to show. She needed to dye it back to
black like every week.
damnable reverie: - she knew this one well. shifted back and forth as she
drew a few things. -
Halo of Noire: (As you go up in rank and take flaws, I will help you if
needed to decide on what you will take and what fits with your character -
just an ooc note.)
Halo of Noire: "And, that is the end of my lecture. Thank you all for
attending, those that wish to leave may do so. Otherwise, if anyone wishes to
add anything, give thoughts, tell us what they believe, or their flaws, or
ask a question the floor
Halo of Noire: is now open." She stepped aside of the lectern, now smiling
out at everyone, watching for hands.
Amuiril Travm: !
Halo of Noire: "Yes?"
Amuiril Travm: "Perhaps the reason why dead magic zones exist, is
because the rules of the universe are briefly changed?"
Amuiril Travm: "It would explain why pre-enchanted items briefly become
mundane while occupying the dead magic zone."
Halo of Noire: "Very possibly. Such as the Witherlands, while it is not
exactly a dead zone, truly a catastrophic event happened to deaden the life
there and cause the issue with outsider creatures."
Halo of Noire: "True."
Halo of Noire: Thinks the star-child's crash had something to do with that
but isn't sure. "Who is next?"
DragonLightMage: !
Halo of Noire: "Yes?"
Warden Hashibara: She had no questions, so she would leave. Text to Amata:
We need to talk later, need to do stuff first though.
OnlineHost: Warden Hashibara has left the room.
Angelic Omicidio: Had a text from someone and answered it.
Vv Nuit vV: She rose from her seat in one quick movement and headed out the
door. It was going to be an early night for her.
OnlineHost: Vv Nuit vV has left the room.
DragonLightMage: "For, my flaw after I cast, my draconic aura of defence
gets weakened, then when done or after battling, gets stronger, and thats why
you can see me glow. The more powerful spells the more of my aura is
weakened."
OnlineHost: TrinityFlareX has left the room.
Halo of Noire: "It can be different for everyone."
Amuiril Travm: "..."
DragonLightMage: "Might be a healing aura too, but...havent been able to
test it much on anyone but me"
OnlineHost: TrinityFlareX has entered the room.
TrinityFlareX: Still there beside Nuit in the seats, watching and listening.
DragonLightMage: Still held a paper from a spell book, was almost afraid to
use the spell...someday...
Amuiril Travm: Nuit had left.
Angelic Omicidio: Emily sat beside The Nuit doll.
TrinityFlareX: Ok. Was sitting apparently beside Amuiril then unless he had
movedb.
OnlineHost: Lejenta has entered the room.
Halo of Noire: "Alright, well, thank you all again."
OnlineHost: LovelyGeminiCat has entered the room.
Azounabis: "Thank you for the lesson."
DragonLightMage: "Thank you" Bows. "Darn, Skhorn isnt here for a match"
Halo of Noire: "Quite welcome." She moved and took a seat on the edge of the
wooden stand she'd been standing on, sinking back a little against the
lectern.
Azounabis: Pushing up from the chair he made his was toward the exit and
took his leave in no particular hurry. Many fine points had been made this
night.
OnlineHost: Azounabis has left the room.
Angelic Omicidio: "Thanks Mela!" Blew a kiss to her.
Halo of Noire: Smiles and catches it.
DragonLightMage: "Aww how cute"
Halo of Noire: "Amuiril, before you leave could I have a word? No hurry,
just before you head out."
TrinityFlareX: And seems Mun got back just in time for it to be over. She
finished penning in the last of her notes and closed up her notebook slipping
it into her bag. She leaned back giving a sigh as hands placed behind her as
she leaed on her
TrinityFlareX: palms.

Angelic Omicidio: She slipped out so so could finish her legion work!

TrinityFlareX: leaned*
Angelic Omicidio: She slipped out so so could finish her legion work!
OnlineHost: Angelic Omicidio has left the room.
a penitent crave: Ben was a little wide-eyes. Part of it was the absolute
reek of magical energy that permeated the room, making him lightheaded. He
gathered his things, rising. "..Thanks for an interesing night!" Quick
execution of his teleport had
